A TikTok sensation! Sparks fly when a competitive figure skater and hockey team captain are forced to share a rink.
Anastasia Allen has worked her entire life for a shot at Team USA. It looks like everything is going according to plan when she gets a full scholarship to the University of California, Maple Hills and lands a place on their competitive figure skating team.
Nothing will stand in her way, not even the captain of the hockey team, Nate Hawkins.
Nate’s focus as team captain is on keeping his team on the ice. Which is tricky when a facilities mishap means they are forced to share a rink with the figure skating team—including Anastasia, who clearly can’t stand him.
But when Anastasia’s skating partner faces an uncertain future, she may have to look to Nate to take her shot.
Sparks fly, but Anastasia isn’t worried…because she could never like a hockey player, right?
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace shows how two unlikely people can fall in love.
Will Nate get Anastasia to like him?
Anastasia Allan
Stas has been dreaming about going to the Olympics since she was told she could have a shot at it. She is having a hard time with her skating partner, but she also chalks it up to the competition and his home life, causing stress on him. Stas also has anxiety issues and likes to have a plan and a set schedule. The one thing she doesn’t tolerate is having people mess up said plan. Anastasia Allan is a complex character that shows exceptionally well in this story. I love how she grows from the beginning to the woman she was at the end and how Stas doesn’t allow anyone to walk on her anymore.
Nate Hawkins
Nate Hawkins is the hockey team captain and the biggest thorn in Anastasia’s side since the moment the hockey team and the figure skating teams found out they had to share the same ice. He tries his best to get Stas to like him, and that is his mission from the moment that they meet. Nate has a fun time pushing her buttons but is glad when they start to connect. Nate definitely grew as well from the way he was at the beginning to the end. I have to say that these two together are great.
I love the chemistry that they both had and how it was shown through. They complement each other well and make each other a better person, especially when it comes to their families.
Five Stars
Icebreaker by Hannah Grace is better suited for the higher end of young adult readers. I am giving Icebreaker by Hannah Grace five stars and a recommendation to any reader older than eighteen years old. The plot reminded me a bit of The Cutting Edge, but not the same as the movie plot. I still loved every minute of reading this story, as it was definitely different from that movie. Still, it made me appreciate how you can take a figure skater and a hockey player while making the story different every time yet keeping the romance between them. Ms. Grace is a talented author with an excellent imagination for some of these scenes.
