August is the Oceanic Dreams month and I am featuring the eight romantic comedy writers. 

Our fifth author is Holly Tierney-Bedord.

So, this month is filled with first reads for me. The first book that I have read of Holly Tierney-Bedord is her Oceanic Dreams book, I Will Follow Him and I am looking forward to reading her other books.

This new Oceanic Dreams series is about finding love on the Oceanic Aphrodite cruise ship or so the legend goes. I only have three books left in the series, I can’t believe it is going by so fast.

Enough about me, let’s get to know Holly Tierney-Bedord.

Personal

Tell us a little about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know? 

I’m a miniaturist. I have a dollhouse flipping and design blog called Flip This (Mini) House. I’ve been a vegetarian since I was twelve. I’ve traveled to over twenty countries.

What inspired you to start writing? 

I’ve always wanted to create little worlds and tell stories, ever since I learned to write.

Who is your favorite author?

Sylvia Plath.

What book are you currently reading?

Story Genius by Lisa Cron.

If you had a superpower, what would it be?

Time travel.

Who is your favorite superhero?

I’m not really into superheroes.

Where is one place you want to visit that you haven’t been before (real or imaginary)?

Many! If I had to pick just one place, Egypt.

Are you a better baker or cook or take out connoisseur?

Definitely not a baker. Sometimes I like cooking but how it turns out is very hit or miss. I’ve gotten a little better over the years. I still prefer take out food most though.

Which do you prefer?

Tea or coffee: Coffee.

Hot or cold: Hot.

Movie or book: Book.

Coke or Pepsi: Neither.

Writing/Books/Series

What do you love most about your writing process?

I love when I’m really “feeling” a book and having fun with it. Sometimes I’m enjoying writing a book so much that I can’t wait to get back to it. Since I’m a “pantser” it can be as exciting writing a book as reading one. I’m as anxious to see where it’s going as the readers will be.

Do you like music or silence?

Until recently, I had to write in silence. I’ve gotten a little more flexible about that lately, but silence is still better.

Do your characters seem to hijack the story or do you feel like you have the reigns of the story?

My characters are in complete control and often surprise me!

What is knocks you off your writing game?

Writing about subject matter that is not interesting enough to me.

Is anything in your book based on real-life experiences or purely all imagination?

I think every book is a mix of both. It’s hard to not let real life affect your writing. Then again, the fun of writing is creating worlds that are a little sillier or more exciting than regular life.

If you could spend time a character from your books whom would it be? And what would you do during that day?

Francie from I Will Follow Him would be a lot of fun to hang out with. She’s quirky, sweet, and funny.

What genres do you write?

Romantic comedies, domestic thrillers, cozy mysteries, women’s fiction

What made you and the other Oceanic Dreams authors choose the Oceanic Aphrodite as the setting of your story?

This project was Delancey Stewart’s idea, so we really owe it all to her.

What project are you working on now?

I’m planning to relaunch my book Surviving Valencia. I’m also hoping to get some of my partly finished books wrapped up.

Do you have any other books coming out this year?

Yes. My Oceanic Dreams book I Will Follow Him comes out on July 15. My serial mystery/thriller Secrets at Silver Ash Manor I’m co-writing with author Geralyn Corcillo comes out each week (usually on Wednesday) on Wattpad. I have several other in-progress books as well. I hope to complete at least two of them before the year is up.

Blame it on the island breezes or the alcohol, but within hours of setting sail, Francie’s leisurely vacation gets complicated when she starts making careless mistakes. Like accidentally becoming friends with the groom and falling for his best man.
