My Rating:
My Thoughts:
Kate, played by Kristin Davis, is trying to find a purpose for herself now that her marriage is over. She goes on the second honeymoon she planned, by herself, and has encountered something that Kate didn’t think she would find: a way to feel useful again. I love how passionate Kate gets about the elephants that she has helped throughout the film and how she feels more alive there than she ever thought was possible. Kate evolves from the wife and mother to a strong independent woman.
Derek played by Rob Lowe, is just trying to get by after the passing of his wife a few years ago. He lives in Africa and is helping out with the orphan elephants. However, Derek never thought that he’d end up meeting someone out there. At least someone that he can be serious with, not just passing the time. Derek is a great character.
Rob Lowe and Kristin Davis were terrific. I love the chemistry that these two show throughout the movie. Also, the scenes in Africa and New York were great. I loved learning about elephants. What a fantastic film, I highly recommend it. f
