Happy Thanksgiving Day 2018 Everyone!
I hope everyone is having a great Thanksgiving so far. Yesterday, I made the Cranapple Breakfast Rolls. We had them for breakfast this morning while watching the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade. I also made pumpkin cookies yesterday which will be our second dessert today. This year is another one that my mom said that she wouldn’t go overboard with all the too much food. But, I honestly don’t mind since I like the leftovers. Oh, I even made our cranberry sauce yesterday, and we prepped all the ingredients for the stuffing. Most of the food that we are eating today we tried to prepare ahead of time so that we could enjoy the time together as a family.
Things I am grateful for:
I have so many things to be thankful for this year.
- The first thing that I am grateful for is that I still live at home and my parents are very supportive.
- The second thing that I am thankful for is my good health this year as I get sick quite a bit.
- Another thing that I am grateful for is this fabulous blog. It has grown to be what I had hoped it would be at the beginning. I genuinely think it is just going to get better.
- And last but not least I am so thankful for the wonderful authors and the worlds that they have created in all the books that I have read so far this year. The authors for their creativity in building stories that are so fabulous I feel like I am there. A special thanks to all the authors featured on my blog this year. I truly appreciate your support.
The First Thanksgiving and Beyond
I did some research yesterday on the United States First Thanksgiving. From the Pilgrims to until 1863 Thanksgiving was something that was celebrated quite a lot. The Pilgrims and the Wampanoag tribe members had their Thanksgiving after the Fall Harvest. That may have occurred anywhere between September 21 and November 11. The Pilgrims had more than just turkey, corn, and the other things that we have now. They had venison, fish, among other things like that.
We continued to celebrate Thanksgiving after the harvest. Then in 1863, Abraham Lincoln decided to make Thanksgiving an official holiday on the fourth Thursday of November.
Happy Thanksgiving! Enjoy your day.
Anyways until next time,
Happy Reading!
