Feasts and Farewells by Daisy Landish is why Sophie Brooks starts her sleuthing career.

Will Sophie leave her Oregon home and start fresh?

Sophie and her husband run a farm-to-table restaurant in Oregon’s wine country. In addition to cooking for the restaurant and catering service, Sophie runs a successful food blog featuring farm-to-table delicacies. She has quite the following. Yet, even with the holidays right around the corner, she is in a funk and realizes she has been for a while now.

Sophie receives an anonymous comment on a blog post asking if she truly knows where the food she makes comes from. Farm-to-table is serious to Sophie and her husband; at least, that is what they initially believed. However, it seems now that things may not be the same.

Sophie also takes the issue of honesty and trust seriously. She isn’t willing to compromise her principles for any reason. With encouragement from her friend Oliver, Sophie makes a tough decision. Thus, she begins her life as an investigating traveling food blogger.

I like Sophie. She does seem to know what her truth and convictions are, and she isn’t afraid to stand by them.

Three Stars

My rating for Feasts and Farewells by Daisy Landish is three stars. I understand that it is a short origin-type story, but I was left wanting more information. For example, in one conversation with her husband, she decides to give up everything that she worked so hard to build. However, I know many people who have done the same thing. Sophie knows herself well and won’t compromise herself, which is quite righteous.
