New York Times bestselling author Axie Oh's ASAP is the much anticipated companion novel to beloved romance XOXO, following fan favorites Sori, the wealthy daughter of a K-pop company owner, and Nathaniel, her K-pop star ex-boyfriend, in a swoon-worthy second chance love story.
Sori has worked her whole life to become a K-pop idol, until she realizes she doesn’t want a life forever in the spotlight. But that’s not actually up to Sori—she’s caught between her exacting mother’s entertainment company and her father’s presidential aspirations. And as the pressure to keep her flawless public image grows, the last person she should be thinking about is her ex-boyfriend.
Nathaniel is off limits—she knows this. A member of one of the biggest K-pop bands in the world and forbidden from dating, he isn’t any more of an option now than he was two years ago. Still, she can’t forget that their whirlwind romance was the last time she remembers being really happy. Or that his family welcomed her into their home when she needed it most. . . .
So when Nathaniel finds himself rocked by scandal, Sori offers him a hideaway with her. And back in close quarters, it’s hard to deny their old feelings. But when Sori gets an opportunity to break free from her parent’s expectations, she will have to decide: Is her future worth sacrificing for a second chance at love?
ASAP by Axie Oh is a companion novel to XOXO. It takes place a year after the first one ends.
Will Sori and Nathaniel have their second chance?
Sori and Nathaniel dated before Nathaniel debuted with XOXO, and after they were close to debuting, it was leaked to the media that they were dating. After that, they both broke up for the best of Nathaniel’s career. Now that XOXO is popular, can Sori and Nathaniel try again? This story is told in Sori’s point of view.
Sori
Sori is the daughter of Joah’s CEO, and her dad is running for president of South Korea. Joah is the Korean Entertainment company that both Sori and XOXO are a part of. Sori is far more than just being a rich girl; a lot of people put her into that category, but she has her own feelings and wants. Everyone probably thinks that Sori’s chances of debuting are more set in stone than anyone else’s, when in reality they aren’t. Sori had to work hard to prove that she’s ready to debut, but now she doesn’t think she wants that anymore. Sori is a great character as she is still evolving from the last book to where she’s at now. She realizes that her own happiness is worth more than what her parents or grandparents want from her. I like Sori as a character.
Nathaniel
Nathaniel is Sori’s love interest. I like Nathanial a lot and even more so in this book. Nathaniel doesn’t seem like he’s much besides what he puts out for his role in XOXO, but there is much more to him than what Sori thought. Nathaniel tries his hardest to keep Sori on her toes while also proving to not only himself but to Joah and to Sori’s parents that they belong together. Even if I don’t think he realizes that is what he is doing. I like all of their little interactions together.
Five Stars
My rating for ASAP by Axie Oh is five stars. I do recommend both books as they are so good. Ms. Oh has made me a fan of her work after reading these two novels. I love visiting Seoul through the characters’ eyes and seeing how both Jenny, from XOXO, saw Seoul as a first-time visitor to Sori, who has lived there all her life and lives in a different part from where Jenny’s grandma lived. I am going to miss these characters.
