April Book Haul 2018

April Book Haul 2018 is my second set of new books for this year

My April Book Haul 2018 comes from my Mom’s belief that books are better than candy. This has been a tradition in our family for a long time. My sister and I would receive books and sometimes movies in our Easter Baskets with a chocolate bunny. And just so you know the chocolate bunny got smaller and smaller as we grew older, until now there is no basket or bunny. Yet, the books still appear, which is the best. These are the four books I received for Easter.

1st Book

The first book I got was Alex and Eliza by Melissa de la Cruz. I have always loved her books. The first series I started collecting of hers was Blue Bloods Series, Witches of East End Series, Descendants Series, and now this one. I have to say Mrs. de la Cruz is an awesome writer and I love her books. I have high expectations for this book since I have heard so many good things about it since it came out last year.

Their romance shaped a nation. The rest was history.
1777. Albany, New York.
As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.
Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at that—to be in such esteemed company. And when Alex and Eliza meet that fateful night, so begins an epic love story that would forever change the course of American history.

2nd Book

The second book I got was Glitter by Aprilynne Pike. Just like the first book Ms. Pike is another author that I love to read books from. Granted the only book series I have read of her’s is the Wings Series. I can’t wait to get reading on this one because I have heard wonderful things about it and I haven’t read a steampunk book before. I love that this one is and I hope that it is as fabulous as expected.

From #1 New York Times bestselling author Aprilynne Pike comes a truly original new novel--Breaking Bad meets Marie Antoinette in a near future world where the residents of Versailles live like it's the eighteenth century and an almost-queen turns to drug dealing to save her own life.Outside the palace of Versailles, it's modern day. Inside, the people dress, eat, and act like it's the eighteenth century--with the added bonus of technology to make court life lavish, privileged, and frivolous. The palace has every indulgence, but for one pretty young thing, it's about to become a very beautiful prison.
When Danica witnesses an act of murder by the young king, her mother makes a cruel power play...blackmailing the king into making Dani his queen. When she turns eighteen, Dani will marry the most ruthless and dangerous man of the court. She has six months to escape her terrifying destiny. Six months to raise enough money to disappear into the real world beyond the palace gates.
Her ticket out? Glitter. A drug so powerful that a tiny pinch mixed into a pot of rouge or lip gloss can make the wearer hopelessly addicted. Addicted to a drug Dani can sell for more money than she ever dreamed. But in Versailles, secrets are impossible to keep. And the most dangerous secret--falling for a drug dealer outside the palace walls--is one risk she has to take.
"I adored this genre-bending, futuristic, and super swoon-y romance featuring a strong anti-heroine to root for--fun, refreshing, and unpredictable!" --#1 New York Times bestselling author Melissa de la Cruz

3rd Book

The third book I got was The Selection by Kiera Cass. I have never read a book by Kiera Cass before and I can’t wait to read this one. Basically, I psyched myself out from buying this book before since I didn’t know if I would like it.  Royal Dystopia and all. but, since it was a gift, no excuses. I know it is going to be great from all the reviews I’ve read. Now that I have it, I find that I have to stop myself from going to my bookshelf to grab this book to read as I have a lot of books before this one to read. I have that old problem of too many books and not enough time.

The last book I got was Once and for All by Sarah Dessen. I love Sarah Dessen’s books and I can’t wait to read this one. I have heard some great things about this book as well and I am really looking forward to reading it.

Once and for All

by Sarah Dessen
Published by Viking Books for Young Readers on June 6th 2017
Genres: Young Adult
Pages: 358
Format: Paperback
Goodreads

As bubbly as champagne and delectable as wedding cake, Once and for All, Sarah Dessen's thirteenth novel, is set in the world of wedding planning, where crises are routine.
Louna, daughter of famed wedding planner Natalie Barrett, has seen every sort of wedding: on the beach, at historic mansions, in fancy hotels and clubs. Perhaps that's why she's cynical about happily-ever-after endings, especially since her own first love ended tragically. When Louna meets charming, happy-go-lucky serial dater Ambrose, she holds him at arm's length. But Ambrose isn't about to be discouraged, now that he's met the one girl he really wants.
Sarah Dessen’s many, many fans will adore her latest, a richly satisfying, enormously entertaining story that has everything—humor, romance, and an ending both happy and imperfect, just like life itself.
