Widow Eliza struggles to raise her young daughter and run her Washington state flower farm. Julien, a charming Southerner with a knack for business, stops his road trip to help her out of a tight situation. He has no intention of sticking around a sleepy farm town, but Eliza's grit and dedication warm his wounded heart. Can they look beyond a business partnership and see the beauty of second chances?

A Winter Rose by Amy Craig is so full of emotion, healing, and love that it had me from the very beginning.

Can Eliza and Julien combine their lives and make it on a flower farm?

Eliza Edwards

Eliza is a widow, mother, daughter, and flower farmer in northwestern Washington. She works extremely hard but has some serious control issues. These stem from her deceased husband and possibly from her father, who is also dead.  Eliza worries that she isn’t there enough for her daughter and mother, who cares for the house. I immediately liked Eliza even though she has a tough exterior and doesn’t allow many people in her world. Seriously, the woman has so many talents and knows what she wants but is afraid of deciding actually to start.

We see so much growth throughout the story for Eliza. Now that she has the support that she needs, I am confident that she will go far.

Julien Kroger

A Winter Rose CRJulien has always been the second born or ‘spare’ for his family. His older brother runs the sugar plantation and is now married to Julien’s ex-girlfriend. Julien loves his brother but doesn’t want to be under his brother’s command. I get it. He wants to be himself and have his own thing. Julien starts to see his worth. He has a ton of growth throughout the story too. He even learns to laugh at himself.

I like Julien, but it took me a bit to understand his motives. After being in his head for a bit, he makes more sense, and I see what a great person he is.

The Story

Ms. Craig always has a point for her characters to learn, and they are always very complex. She has a way of putting you right there in the heart of the matter and making you root for the characters. This story includes many topics of our time, and Ms. Craig does an excellent job of not only pitting the sides against each other but allowing you to see the flaws in both. You can tell the amount of research she puts into each story as she nails the details stupendously.

Five Stars

My rating for A Winter Rose by Amy Craig is five stars. The story has heart, determination and shows the character’s flaws and attributes. I highly recommend it to all romance readers out there.
