They’re from two different centuries,
but they’re perfect for each other.
Megan Turner is in love with the past. As a tour guide at a beautiful historic mansion, she tells visitors about its original owner, Charles Whitley. An inventor and businessman in the early 1900s, he rose from poverty to wealth…only to disappear without a trace.Charles was always intrigued by the future. He just never expected to go there. But when he repairs a mysterious clock he bought on his travels, he’s transported to the twenty-first century, with his home decorated for Christmas and overrun by strangers. Charles is determined to find a way back to his own era, especially when he learns about what happened after he left. But as Megan introduces him to the wonders of smartphones, pizza, and modern holiday traditions, they both feel a once-in-a-lifetime connection. Could it be that, somewhere in time, they belong together?
A Timeless Christmas by Alexis Stanton is a sweet romance told through the ages.
Can Charles Whitley get back to his own time? Or will the future entice him to stay?
Megan Turner
Megan Turner is a young woman that recently got her Ph.D. in American History and works at the Whitley-Moran Mansion. She is a tour guide acting as Rosie, Mr. Whitley’s housekeeper when he was around. Megan is a wonderful character that I loved to read about since she doesn’t try to hide who she is. Sure she has a bit of self-doubt within herself thanks to her last boyfriend, but things pick up for her, and Megan takes back her confidence when she plays Rosie. Megan is someone that I would be in awe of if I met her on the streets.
Charles Whitley
Charles Whitley is a self-made wealthy guy from the year 1902. He was fixing a clock for his fiancee, Eliza, and he was transported through time to 2018. He has a lot of things to get used to quickly, especially because he can’t stay in his own home anymore. I love how Charles goes from being this proper guy who loves the future to realizing he needs to let go of what happened when he was flying through time stay the way it is. The last one took a long time for that to sink in.
I loved the romance between Megan and Charles unfolding before my eyes while reading. Megan and Charles also seem like the perfect match.
Comparison to the movie
Compared to the movie, I have to say that the book was a lot better. We got a lot more scenes and a whole slew of more characters. There are differences, like the years going from 1902 and 2018 to 1903 and 2020. I still loved the actors they picked for the main characters, as they still work perfectly. Kenny is also totally different in the book, and his name is Phillip.
Both the book and movie were great on their own merit.
Five Stars
A Timeless Christmas by Alexis Stanton is a fantastically written novel. I fell in love with these characters all over again. It has been two years since I said I would read this novel, but I finally finished it. Ms. Stanton has a way of bringing you to her characters and their setting while forgetting about the world around you.
Megan Turner and Charles Whitley are a wonderful couple, even if I wish we could know how they got Charles Whitley to do anything requiring identification without a birth certificate and social security number. Then again, it is a romance novel that probably wouldn’t fit in with what the author wanted to say. I do love the rest of the characters that didn’t get their limelight in the movie, but that is totally fine. I am giving A Timeless Christmas by Alexis Stanton five stars and highly recommend it!
I do have to say that you should read the book and see the movie as well. Both are great!
Oh, and don’t forget to check out the recipe at the back of the book. It’s for a Stuffed Crust Italian Pizza sounds delicious.
