A famous Van Gogh painting has been stolen from the National Gallery of Art. Or was it? Why risk such a brazen robbery in broad daylight? Was the theft a ruse for something more nefarious?
Join super sleuths Ava and Carol as they unravel a secret plot that may lead to a fortune, hidden during the Civil War. The clues lead the girls from the National Gallery of Art in Washington D.C. to a famous historic church in Richmond, Virginia to the mighty James River—where they are caught up in a high stakes-race to solve the mystery and find the treasure before the thieves.
Things go from bad to worse when the malicious-minded-thieves begin targeting Ava’s parents, and threaten her father’s life, if the girls don’t back down. Will Carol and Ava get to the treasure in time, save Ava’s father, and put the bad guys where they belong? Follow the clues in this riveting middle-school mystery thriller.
Ava & Carol Detective Agency - The Eye of God is the fifth book in this middle grade mystery series that's perfect for curious-minded middle-schoolers. If you and your child like puzzling mysteries, fearless and funny characters, and unbreakable friendships, then you’ll love Thomas Lockhaven’s high-energy adventure.
The Eye of God by Thomas Lockhaven is a middle school version of National Treasure.
Can Ava and Carol stop the art thieves from taking the treasure?
Ava and Carol
Ava and Carol are becoming great detectives as they perfect their skills. I mean that Ava could spot a criminal in the act even if she were unaware of what was happening. Carol also saw the diversion they implemented after the alarm was sounded. I love these two detectives as they are doing a great job of figuring out their mysteries or, should I say, cases. Both are honing in on their crafts while also knowing when to let something go. I like them both, and I couldn’t pick one as my favorite.
The Mystery
Ava and Carol go to a museum in Washington, D.C., while Ava’s mom has an appointment with someone working there. The two girls go off on their own and find the museum is going on lockdown. Then they see a little old lady put the rubber part back on the end of her walking stick. They find out that the little old lady did steal something from the museum, and they are off to get it back and get to the treasure first. The story reminded me of the National Treasure movies, especially how they solved the clues and got to the treasure. I loved this mystery so much it was great!
Five Stars
I am giving The Eye of God by Thomas Lockhaven five stars and recommending this series to anyone that loves a great middle grade mystery series. Or if you are a parent who wonders if this book series is excellent for your son or your daughter, I would recommend it, as I would have loved this series when I was a middle schooler. I also won’t judge if you want to read the series first, as it is excellent for all ages. Mr. Lockhaven is a great author, and I am totally in love with this series.
