The time has come for one winner to be crowned.
When she was chosen to compete in the Selection, America never dreamed she would find herself anywhere close to the crown—or to Prince Maxon's heart. But as the end of the competition approaches, and the threats outside the palace walls grow more vicious, America realizes just how much she stands to lose—and how hard she'll have to fight for the future she wants.
The One by Kiera Cass is the end of America and Maxon’s truly remarkable love story.
Will Maxon choose America?
America and Maxon
America is still fighting for her chance to be with Maxon, even more so when King Clarkson is determined to get rid of her. She still has to figure out her feelings, even though, deep down, I suspect she already knew but didn’t want to admit to them just quite yet. America has grown into quite a wonderful person, and I love how she stands up for herself and her beliefs. She is quite the character, and that is good. I also love her and Maxon together as they seem cute, and I loved all their actions toward each other that just had them arrive at this pivotal moment. Who will Maxon pick?
Maxon, the Prince of Illea and the love interest to America, is another character that, in my head, grew as the story progressed. Sure the book was written from America’s point of view, but it’s shown quite clearly. Max went from this teenage boy knowing that he needed to find a wife in one of the 35 Selected without any guidance from anyone. That must have been a daunting task. Except he made it through and did find someone.
The Story
So much happens in this installment from the time you open the book to the end. I loved every moment of being able to finish America and Maxon’s love story. I wish I could talk about everything that happens, but I can’t. There are a lot of parts where I laughed or cried because of what happened. Despite that, we saw many good things happening to all of the characters in this novel while meeting some other characters as well. The story, for the most part, was lovely, and it was fun to imagine yourself in the shoes of the Selected girls. Imagine what type of life you could have if you were in those shoes at that time.
Five Stars
I am giving The One by Kiera Cass five stars. I recommend it to everyone that loves reading about royalty. I loved it from the beginning of this fantastic series to this book. Now just two more books and then a bunch of novellas, and I will have finished this series. Ms. Cass took me on a rollercoaster of emotions throughout this book, and I hope she does the same to anyone else that has picked it up. What did you think of the story?
