Twenty years ago, America Singer entered the Selection and won Prince Maxon’s heart. Now the time has come for Princess Eadlyn to hold a Selection of her own. Eadlyn doesn’t expect her Selection to be anything like her parents’ fairy-tale love story. But as the competition begins, she may discover that finding her own happily ever after isn’t as impossible as she always thought.
The Heir by Kiera Cass brings us back to America and Maxon’s life through their only daughter. I’ve always wondered how it would be on the other side of this process.
Will Eadlyn keep the people happy through her own Selection?
It’s been twenty years since America showed up in Angeles to win over Maxon’s heart. Despite the fact she wasn’t aiming for his affection, she did. Now it’s their only daughter’s turn Princess Eadlyn to have her Selection as their heir to the throne. Okay, I must admit I did like Eadlyn, even though she was a bratty and selfish person. Along with the fact that she doesn’t believe in love and that she should have it. I felt bad for her at certain times since Eadlyn didn’t mean for things to go so wrong. She does have a lot of character development throughout this entire thing, and I loved seeing that for Eadlyn. My only problem is that I hope she opens up a lot more and gets to know her country better than she has been doing for the past few years.
We see how Eadlyn juggles being with her family, learning things from her father for being the ruler one day, seeing the guys, and doing things for herself. It doesn’t always work out very well for her, which made me feel bad until she proved me wrong with her attitude. I hope she gets a big wake-up call in the next book and puts everything aside to show her vulnerability. That includes maybe liking the guys a lot more.
I have two potential boys that I would like her to end up with, but I’m not going to say them since I don’t want to be wrong. Well, more of one than the other. Again I don’t want to say. Who do you want to see Eadlyn with for the rest of her life?
Four Stars
The Heir by Kiera Cass brings us to an Illea without the castes anymore and how life after that has made things better or worse for their country. I have to have hope that maybe something will happen to make the people happy in their country. Ms. Cass has brought us a world that may look better after The One but may not be after all. Eadlyn has some work to do to win her people over, much as her mother and father did by doing the Selection. My rating for The Heir by Kiera Cass is four stars, and I recommend it to anyone who has read the first three books before this one!
Here’s to hoping that The Crown brings a happy ever after for everyone in this world. Sadly that isn’t my next book, but I will be reading it soon.
