What if the secret to your magic was etched in your blood?

It could also be why you may not live to see your next birthday!

Thirteen-year-old Alowishus Morhaven is an outsider at Browning Academy, with no magic, no family, few friends, and no hope for her future.

But when fate places an ancient grimoire in Alowishus' hands, the dormant power within her stirs to life with terrifying ferocity.

Her new abilities come with a chilling revelation. A dark secret bound to her bloodline challenges everything she believes to be true, threatening to destroy her and everyone she loves.

As Alowishus delves deeper into the grimoire, a world of ancient mysteries and dangers tempts her to embrace her true heritage and join forces with the shadows that lurk in her past. With lives on the line and her enemies closing in, she faces an impossible choice-one that will change her world forever.

The Grimoire by Tempest V. Everett introduces us to a newly imagined world where wytchs, warlocks, and other beings live with us but are separate.

Can Alowishus find out what her bloodline is?

Alowishus Morhaven

Alowishus Morhaven does not know what her bloodline is or where she comes from. In her world, that spells disastrous consequences for her. Not knowing about her bloodline makes her unable to use magic, and going to school surrounded by magic users makes her an outcast. She gets bullied by twins Isara, Icarus, and Babette – Isara’s best friend. Alowishus wants to get through the school year and get going on her life, even if she doesn’t know what she will do. I felt so bad for Alowishus since she didn’t ask for any of what had happened to her to happen. Alowishus is a character who wants to blend into the shadows around her, but not everyone wants her to. I would definitely try to help out Alowishus and befriend the poor girl.

Cllover Aylett

Cllover Aylett is one of Alowishus’s best friends and roommate. She also happens to be a transmigrational soul, meaning that she gets reborn into a new body and family whenever she has died in a past life. She has had five different lives so far, and Cllover has had a hard time staying alive for a long time in all of them. Cllover, in this life, is a studious young lady who wants to soak up all the knowledge, including the Grimoire she found and brought out of the library. Cllover is a great character who wants to help Alowishus out by finding where she truly belongs and with the Grimoire. I have to say that I like Cllover as she definitely keeps Alowishus and Riplei concentrated on learning and getting to their classes on time. The Grimoire CR

Riplei Monroe

Riplei Monroe is the last of Alowishus’s best friends and roommate. She loves to eat and is the definition of an act-first, think-about-it-second type of person. Riplei cares deeply about Alowishus as a friend and wants to see her not get picked on. She is also cautious about the book and what to do about it. I like Riplei and thought she was a cool character.

I would love to have these three as friends when I was in middle school.

Five Stars

My rating for The Grimoire by Tempest V. Everett is five stars, and I recommend it to everyone. Ms. Everett has done a superb job with everything in this book. I felt like I was right there with Alowishus, Cllover, Riplei, and everyone else experiencing everything with them. I truly loved this book and can’t wait for the next one!
