The Big Fix by Holly James is a wonderfully written, witty, fantastically romantic thriller. I love it.
Will Penny and Anthony find romance in the mix of danger and intrigue?
Penny Collins
Our heroine is Penny, a mild mannered college professor trying to get tenure with a bossy older sister who wants her to settle down. Penny is a great character who really steps into trouble with her sister’s new neighbor.
I enjoyed this character so much. She is smart and has a lovely attitude, even in the face of everything being thrown at her. Penny feels an instant attraction to Anthony, but doesn’t understand that it is an attraction. At first, she is quite annoyed by him and her sister. Then she is freaked out by everything that is happening. Yet, she keeps her cool and even helps Anthony out with the situation that they end up in.
Anthony Griotti
Our hero is Anthony, a complicated man mourning the death of his uncle. Anthony is so much more, but I don’t want to give anything away. He is immediately attracted to Penny and enjoys the banter between the two of them.
I also enjoyed the conversations between these two. Anthony is one of those quiet types who keeps most close to his vest. It was fun to watch Penny bring out his personality. She really challenged him at times.
The Mystery
The entire adventure begins before the start of the book, but the author does such a fantastic job of ensuring that we can follow along. Penny and Anthony are excellent, and I loved that they had to learn to trust each other fast, even though the chemistry between them is shocking. I was so impressed with the way everything worked out, and that Penny wasn’t just a damsel in distress.

My rating for The Big Fix by Holly James is five stars. This is a delightful story. I thoroughly enjoyed it and highly recommend it.
