Lexi Balefire lives with her godmothers, three faeries who like nothing more than a good fight. When they knock Santa and his sleigh out of the sky, Lexi must find all of Santa's reindeer before time runs out.
This story is a prequel to the Fate Weaver series and features cameos of characters from two other series.

Snowball’s Chance in Spell by ReGina Welling and Erin Lynn is a prequel novella to The Fate Weaver’s series.

Where are Santa’s reindeer hiding?

Lexi tasks herself and one of her fairy godmothers with finding the reindeer after Santa crash lands in their yard without his reindeer. The mystery of finding them is tricky when they have to figure out which reindeer they find is who and what makes them fly. The reindeer are all over the place where they live, and figuring out what makes them fly takes a great deal of time. Lexi is a witch without her magic, which hurts her the most when trying to find the reindeer. She must decipher what the reindeer are trying to tell her to find the others.

I think that this story is a cute little Christmas read. The only critique I have to say is that technically, Kris Kringle’s reindeer are all female, not male. Female reindeer have antlers during the winter, whereas males don’t. Other than that, it was a cute read.Snowball's Chance in Spell CR

Four Stars

I am giving four stars to Snowball’s Chance in Spell by ReGina Welling and Erin Lynn while recommending it. It’s the start of what could be a fantastic series. This mother-and-daughter duo has created a fun little dynamic with this one. I didn’t see much improvement or anything with Lexi throughout this little novella besides the fact that she is a witch with no powers, which puts her at a disadvantage in her house.

About Erin Lynn

Erin Lynn

I’m Erin Lynn, and I’m a fiction author from no-place-you’ve-ever-heard-of, Maine.

I inherited the trait of expressing myself most effectively via the written word from my mother, who is ReGina Welling, author of the “Psychic Seasons” and “Earthbound” series of novels. She’s also the co-author of the “Ponderosa Pines” mysteries, the “Fate Weaver” series, the “Elder Witch” mysteries, and the “Haunted Everly After” mysteries.

I enjoy reading, drinking coffee, bird-watching, and procrastinating. My life is made complete by my two hilarious sons, my amazing boyfriend and partner in crime, and an ever-expanding collection of pets!

Follow me for unputdownable, romantic, sometimes paranormal, always cozy mysteries.

About ReGina Welling

ReGina Welling

ReGina Welling prefers not to talk about herself in the third person so…

I live in Maine with my husband, a silly flufferpup named Dash, and a crazy cat named Cricket. I write full time and also create mixed media artwork when I get the chance.

When I was three, my mom brought home a new book and when she went to read it to me, I read it to her instead. That was when she realized I’d learned to read. Since then I couldn’t even estimate the number of books I’ve read. It’s a lot!
