My Rating:
My Thoughts:
I am so excited about another Ruby Herring movie. The first one I thought was great and this one was excellent. I miss the old dad, but John Wesley Shipp is doing a good job of being Ruby’s father.
Ruby Herring Mysteries: Her Last Breath is delightful. It’s good to see Chelsea Hobbs in something again since she was one Make It Or Break It for almost two seasons I think. She is a good actress, and her character here is different, which I like.
Ruby
Ruby Herring is our female lead, and I have to say that I love it when they show her doing her consumer reports first. After that, she’s usually solving a crime and is working on that story. Ms. Cole’s hair in this one looks incredible, and I love the styles that they put it in. The way that Ruby solves the crime in this film is funny, and the way she collects the clues while making her analysis is clever. Then again, she does have a dad that has helped with that skill. Taylor Cole is fantastic in this role.
Jake
We learn a lot more about Detective Jake Killian, and I love it. The way that they show his backstory is sweet. Jake’s baking is an excellent way to make him different from the other police detectives/love interest in similar shows. The chemistry between Taylor Cole and Stephen Huszar is fantastic, and I notice it on the screen, which makes it more believable.
One of the scenes that I like is the diner scene between Ruby and Jake. Where they are telling each other things, and it is just so sweet. I do like the scenes where Ruby and Jake keep bumping into each other where there is a piece of evidence nearby.
The mystery is a good one, and I like how the type of murder is like others, but the motive is different. The killer almost got away with it, but Ruby’s tenacity is something they weren’t expecting.
