Raiders of the Campsite

Author: Jodi Linton
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Pages: 200
Release Date: May 13, 2021
Summary:
Welcome to Bushwhack, New Mexico: home to tourists, the great outdoors, and murder…
Camping for spring break should be a piece of cake for outdoor guide Andie Sullivan. She has her best friend and the sheriff tagging along as chaperones for the Wilderness Explorers. It should be all S’mores and ghost stories…but then Vivian is attacked, and they discover a corpse.
Dang. The campsite went up in smoke.
With everything at stake, Andie must find answers about the attack—she has to dig deep into a community she’s called home since birth by asking all the right questions, sometimes at not the right time. As she tracks down clues to a suspect, Andie stumbles on a secretive treasure hunting group in Bushwhack. But one wrong move and Andie could become her own buried treasure.
Interview with Jodi Linton
Tell us a little bit about yourself? Perhaps something not many people know?
If I had to choose one place to live forever I’d pick a beach. Nothing compares to the sound of the ocean at night.
I do agree with this!
What made you want to become a writer?
I’ve always been a storyteller. I used to make up my own bedtime stories with my mom, so after being in my HS creative writing class and writing for the school yearbook I caught the bug to write my own book.
What book that you have read has most influenced your life?
I can’t really say. I read so much that I don’t have one particular book I’d call an influencer.
If you had a superpower, what would it be?
Is Bewitched nose twitch a superpower? Because I’d want that. To be able to just twitch my nose and my house be clean. That’s cool.
What do you love most about your writing process?
Seeing the final product. The cover, the formatted book, the anticipation of release day.
Do you like music or silence while writing? If you listen to music what type of music do you listen to?
Music. Lately, I’ve been listening to alternative nation on Spotify.
Is anything in your book(s) based on real-life experiences or purely all imagination?
Some real life experiences. We vacation in New Mexico at least once a year, and yes, we go rafting and mountain bike riding.
What was your favorite chapter (or part) to write and why?
I really enjoyed writing the first chapter in Raiders of the Campsite. The campfire scene with Andie Sullivan and Zac Mars was fun to create.
How did you come up with the title?
It’s a play on Raiders of the Ark. I’m an 80’s baby and a huge Indiana Jones fan.
What project are you working on now?
I’m finishing up The Great Holi-Fake. My novella that is part of the Holiday Fake-Out boxset with New York Times Author Heather Graham. And then I’ll be writing book four in the Southwest Exposure Mysteries, Nightmare on the Bike Trail.
Do you have any other books coming out this year?
Yes. Nightmare on the Bike Trail comes out Oct. 11, 2021, and The Great Holi-Fake comes out Oct. 19, 2021.
