Plot Summary:
Hannah Swensen is an expert baker-turned-crime-solving-sleuth when a murder at her bakery, The Cookie Jar, shocks her small Minnesota town. As she follows the clues to find the killer, Hannah meets a handsome new detective called in to work the case. His smug doubt in her investigative skills quickly turns to flirtation just as Hannah’s matchmaking mother pushes her to date the town’s eligible dentist. Soon, Hannah has a romantic mystery of her own to solve. And when another dead body and multiple suspects turn up, Hannah becomes a culinary detective as she attempts to bake up a satisfyingly sweet conclusion to the case.
Based on characters from the Hannah Swensen Series by Joanne Fluke.
My Rating:
My Thoughts:
A Chocolate Chip Cookie Mystery, the first Murder, She Baked movie is scrumptious. I loved watching it again to do this review. Hannah is obviously a great baker and I love the cute little bakery that she has. Her bakery is called Hannah’s Cookie Jar which is perfect.
Hannah isn’t looking for love or anything like that as she is content in her life. She has a cat and a bakery with amazing friends. Sounds to me like her life is full of everything great. She is a lovely character and I love her tidbits about baking throughout. Hannah is conflicted about her mom wanting to help her in her love life. Then again, her mom will make her date. As her mom is a bit pushy. Alison Sweeney is fabulous in this role. She is so believable that you feel like a friend sitting at the Cookie Jar watching it all happen.
My favorite quote from her is “You don’t choose the cookie the chooses you.”
Norman Rhoades is a dentist and the person her mom wants Hannah to date. He seems like a nice guy but to me, their relationship is kind of funny. A dentist and a baker. The two don’t mix together at all. To me, he just doesn’t seem to be a good fit for Hannah. However, I think that Gabriel Hogan does a good job playing Norman.
Now Mike seems like a good fit for her and her sister seems to think so as well. If only her mom would agree with her daughters. Mike and Hannah just have better chemistry even from the beginning. Cameron Mathison plays Mike perfectly. I can so see his frustration with Hannah when he finds her with another dead body.
I love this series. If you haven’t watched it you totally should. Hallmark Movies and Mysteries schedules it occasionally.
