They thought they'd have it easy being monster elites, but these three best friends still have to deal with pop quizzes, crushes, and even worse...humans.

Frances Stein, Loralie Reaper, and Tsukiko Okami just want to play games and relax after their classes. Any hopes of chilling out, however, are destroyed when humans attack Monster Academy and try to use the students for ransom.

In order to defeat the humans and protect their fellow monsters, they must work side by side with their crushes without giving away their secrets. Of course, that would be a lot easier if they were able to stick together, but in a move that betrays insider knowledge, the BFFs are separated.

By tapping into their monstrous powers and working with their crushes, they will open their hearts and unlock abilities long thought dead. But will it be enough to save all of monster-kind? It's going to be one hell of a year at Monster Academy.

Monster Academy by Catherine Banks is a different and exciting tale about monsters and humans.

Can Francis, Loralie, and Tsukiko save their classmates and teachers?

Francis Stein

Francis Stein is the daughter of Frankenstein and his wife. Well, she was created for them by Doctor Frankenstein herself. She and her friends are the children of the Elite, which isn’t always a good thing. Especially with the other monster kids thinking they know what is going on in their life. Francis is starting high school, which means a whole new ballgame for learning. She is also trying to figure out how to get over one obvious flaw with the guy she is crushing on. The fact that his hair is always made out of fire is pretty scary. She is also the brains of the three friends, as Francis always has loved learning.

Loralie Reaper

Loralie Reaper is the daughter, of course, Death. Well, more of the granddaughter of Death, but who’s counting. She is a reaper that reaps souls for both monsters and humans. Loralie is still learning and hasn’t done much, but she is better at learning to control her powers. Well, besides having to take a lot of naps throughout the day, so she doesn’t get too tired and passes out while being left vulnerable to those nasty humans. Loralie’s part of the trio is that she uses her powers to get them to where they need to be. Along with using her powers more than the others. Loralie’s crush happens to be an immortal witch, and that right there freaks her out.

Tsukiko Okami

The last of the trio is Tsukiko Okami, and she is the daughter of two Alpha wolf shifters. There are alphas over every single shifter, including a werewolf. Tsukiko is learning about her Alpha ways while going to school and trying not to get stuck in her wolf form from fighting in it. She is an amazing character, and I loved what the author did with them. Tsukiko has a crush on a snake shifter, and she is terrified of snakes.

So this isn’t going too well with the three girls with their three guys.

Monster Academy CRFive Stars

Monster Academy by Catherine Banks is about many teenage monsters trying to survive school while learning more about their powers and how they can do things to humans. These three girls are totally different from each other, but they act like sisters instead of friends. They also have created a unique bond between the three of them, but no one knows what it does. I love what Ms. Banks has done with this book. She’s an amazing writer. I also liked being in each girl’s head while telling the story from their point of view. It was unique, and I loved it as it allowed us to see within their minds and how they actually are under more pressure than the other monsters.
