2023 Reading Challenges

My 2023 Reading Challenges

I have so much fun doing reading challenges. The feeling I get when completing or surpassing one of these challenges is amazing. I love looking for books to fulfill my goals, too, whether finding a book with the right title or filling out the toe tag. Not that I need any reason to read. It is pretty much my favorite pass time.

If you want to join one of the challenges below, click the link after “Hosted by,” and it will take you to the challenge page. You can find all the rules there and sign up too.

Due to the amount of reading challenges, my progress will be tracked on different and separate posts that you can find at the top of the page under “Reading Challenges.”

2023 Goodreads Reading Challenge

Hosted by: Goodreads

My goal this year will be 100 books.

Goodreads hosts this reading challenge every year. I have been participating in this contest since 2011. I haven’t always hit my target, but I try. You do have to sign up to be on Goodreads, but you probably already are if you are a reader.

Beachcomber

2023 Beachcomber Mystery Reading Challenge

Hosted by: Rick Mills Project

My goal this year is to finish one bag per category.

The goal is to become a Beachcomber by filling the set of four beach bags (23 items per bag, 92 items total) as you read mysteries!

  • All four beach bags now use the find-the-letter-of-the-alphabet system.
  • You can use ANY letter in the word, not just the first letter. You can use Knife for F.
  • Crime Scenes can be “regional” – from a specific room to a street to a city to a state.
  • You can use any book as many times as you like.
  • You are not limited to the author’s exact words but may substitute as needed. For example, the author uses the word “handgun,” but you need a T – to substitute “pisTol.”

My goal this year is to complete nine prompts.

Cozy Mysteries only. ~This is the only hard and fast rule. This challenge was built to expand our love within the Cozy genre, so feel free to pull selections from all sub-genre’s but the books must be a Cozy Mystery to count.

One Book Per Prompt ~ Unless you want to check off five prompts with the same book, then go for it. 😉 Your challenge your rules, remember.

There are 20 prompts with and extra 3 bonus prompts. They are on Instagram and Facebook.

2023-CRAVING-FOR-COZIES

2023 Craving the Cozies

Hosted by: Escape with Dollycas

My goal this year is to enter the Famished level with 26 books.

Cozy mysteries, or “cozies,” are a sub-genre of crime fiction mysteries in which sex and violence are downplayed or treated humorously, and the crime and detection occur in a small, socially intimate community. The crime-solver is an amateur sleuth, usually but not always a woman, who is thrust into the aftermath of the murder. The protagonist frequently has an occupation or hobby that brings appealing information to the reader.

The challenge runs from January 1st, 2023, and ends on December 31st, 2023.

This year’s cozy mystery reading challenge has two ways to participate. You choose whichever suits you the best: Read cozy mysteries of your choice or read one book from the sub-genres listed on the sign-up post.

Thank you for stopping by to see which 2023 Reading Challenges I will participate in.

Remember that Reading Challenges are there to get you to read more and give a community to discuss all the fabulous books you read. So, have fun with it.

Due to the number of reading challenges and for my website’s health, this year, I will separate posts to track my and Jen’s progress. Go to Reading Challenges on the above menu, which will give you links to our tracking system.
