Summary:
Maggie, a former musician and singer who’s now a wedding photographer on Piedmont Island, has to confront her past when Jake, her ex-boyfriend and music partner, arrives for his sister’s wedding she’s photographing. While their families conspire to reunite them, Maggie’s not interested. But when they’re asked to perform together at the wedding, old feelings surface. As they grow closer, Jake is called back to work the day of the wedding and leaves without saying goodbye. Realizing what’s important to him, he must find a way back in time to sing with Maggie and make her a life-changing offer.
My Rating:
My Thoughts:
In the Key of Love was supposed to have come out last year during June for Hallmark’s June Weddings. That didn’t happen, but thanks to some circumstances, it has finally graced our presence on the television.
Maggie and Jake
Maggie is a talented photographer but is an even more talented singer-songwriter. Laura Osnes did a great job of bringing her to life, and I love that she actually sang for the movie as well. She is a fabulous singer herself and was on Broadway. I think that Maggie has some good qualities to her, and the bad qualities are that she, at times, seems like she was stuck in the past of Jake hurting her.
Jake is now a music producer and loves his job. Well, he does until he sings again with Maggie. Maggie is more staying in the moment, and Jake is more about micromanaging everything. He seems to be a lot better after staying on the island for a bit.
They had the right amount of chemistry that I can see it. Just maybe not as much as the secondary couple.
The Rest
Jennifer and Kyle have a considerable amount of chemistry, and I love all the little moments of them doing stuff for their wedding. They were adorable. The grandma, Evelyn, was a hoot by wanting to be called Evelyn at work and not wanting to step back even a little bit. Sasha is another excellent character, and I loved how she and Evelyn got Jake and Maggie back together. Mayor McCready was awesome. He is an entrepreneur. Well, besides windows.
The whole cast of characters was fabulous. They all acted like a family, which was great to see. I liked to see the brother and sister relationship between Jake and Jennifer.
The sets were great, and I wouldn’t mind going to visit Piedmont Island in Washington. The island looked so beautiful.
