A teen descendant of a Japanese dragon god must find out the truth of what happened to her missing sister while trying not to fall for a handsome rogue agent in acclaimed author Kylie Lee Baker's magical new YA romance, I'll Find You Where the Timeline Ends.
“Here's one thing I know for certain: I’ll never see you again. And if I never see you again, then in fifty years, the world will end.” -Yejun
Yang Mina, descended from a Japanese dragon god, was born with the power to travel through time, and has spent her life training to take her place in the Descendants, a secret organization whose purpose is to protect the timeline. But since moving to Seoul, everything is falling apart. Mina has discovered that the Descendants are corrupt, that her sister has been erased from existence, and that she can’t pass Calculus, which puts her mission to kiss the cutest boy in her year at risk.
With her very existence on the line, Mina decides to tread a dangerous path: team up with a handsome rogue agent named Yejun, who has a plan to free the Descendants from the corrupt influence, and (hopefully) restore Mina’s sister. Between class and their time travel dates, Mina can’t stop herself from falling for the mysterious Yejun. Yet, as Mina grows closer to Yejun, she also grows closer to discovering the truth, which may be the very thing that breaks her…
I’ll Find You Where the Timeline Ends by Kylie Lee Baker takes a fresh spin on a teenager navigating a new high school and country.
What would you do if you knew the business you were born into could be lying to you?
Yang Mina
Yang Mina is a descendant of the Japanese dragon god named Otohime. There is also a Korean dragon god, and the two of them, along with their descendants, formed a company so that more descendants could learn to harness their power to help the timeline. Except Mina doesn’t think that working for the Descendants is a good idea, especially since they could make her sister go on the run in the timeline. I like Mina and how she tries her hardest to be a good descendant, even when she doesn’t feel like she is, because she feels so human. Mina is a good character, and I like how she grows, even with the help of a guy.
Kim Yejun
We only see this character through Mina’s eyes, but I felt like he deserved his own paragraph. Yejun is a wild card for Mina. The reason for this is that he’s a rogue agent trying to help Mina defy the Descendants and retrieve her sister. Yejun has many layers to his character, and every time Mina sees him, he doesn’t want to hurt her. I loved this character and how he wants to protect Mina from anything, including their corrupt agency.
The Story
Mina Yang moves around a lot with her parents, who work for the Descendants, but as floaters. She and her family had lived in South Korea for a month before she decided to spin everything on its head once she finally convinced herself to believe what Yejun was telling her. I loved this story so much. Ms. Baker did a great job transporting me to Seoul with the characters at all the different times that they were jumping to. I loved the way she brought to life the idea that there could be dragon descendants living among us, controlling our timeline without us even realizing it.
Five Stars
My rating for I’ll Find You Where the Timeline Ends by Kylie Lee Baker is five stars. Ms. Baker spun a fantastic story, and I wished I could be in it for a bit longer. I loved everything about this tale. I am recommending this book to anyone who wants to give this YA Romantic Fantasy a try.
