Cozy Corgi Mysteries by Mildred Abbott is about a woman leaving her life behind in Kansas City to pursue her dream of owning a bookstore in a cozy mountain town. Of course, that comfortable mountain home being her mom’s old home of Estes Park, Colorado. Fred has a lot to think about in this series. She has a new bookstore, a friend, and not one but two love interests by my point, maybe only one.
I will be reviewing books 8-10. My guest reviewer has books 1-5 done. I hope that you all like these reviews. Please let us know on both of what you thought of the books that we reviewed.

Fall gives way to winter in the Colorado mountains, ushering in snow, pumpkin spice, the bugling of elk, and murder…
Estes Park bustles with tourists and locals for its Halloween celebration, and Winifred Page and her corgi sidekick, Watson, are enjoying their favorite pastries as they greet trick-or-treaters outside the Cozy Corgi Bookstore and Bakery. But a chilling afterhours break-in at the charming bookshop leaves Fred and Watson shaken, especially with its connection to a recent poaching incident in the national park. By daybreak, on a cool morning walk through town, Fred discovers the body of one of the poachers…
When Fred’s close friend, park ranger Leo Lopez, asks for her help in proving the innocence of a fellow ranger, Fred and Watson join the investigation. But with every uncovered clue hinting the police have the right person, Fred must uncover a mystery whose webs reach into the past and her experiences over the past year.
Even amid the beauty of the snow covering the mountains and the twinkling lights of the beginning holiday season, Fred and Watson won’t make it to Thanksgiving without facing dangers and revelations that will change their lives.
(This culinary cozy mystery includes a recipe for delectable artisan garlic-infused bread.)
Wicked Wildlife by Mildred Abbott is an intriguing tale of how Fred finds out more than she was bargaining for.
Can Fred figure out if one of the park rangers is the killer?
Winifred “Fred” Page
Fred Page is our sleuth, main character, and owner of Cozy Corgi bookshop and bakery. She is a fantastic person who is trying hard to make a living in Estes Park. Granted, it has been a year since she moved to the town, but Fred is still working. Fred is great at getting people to talk to her and figuring out things that only a kid of a police detective would know. I like a lot of things about Fred. The first one being that her bookstore is incredible and that I would love to work there. I love that she talks to Watson and some inanimate things. It’s just apart of her working through what’s on her mind. Fred and I would have been friends if she was real. Well, except for being one to find bodies a lot.
Watson is also adorable. I love his attitude sometimes. His love for baked goods is incredible to think about for such a small creature.
The Mystery
First things first, there is gunfire the night before Halloween, but they found the body of a sheep. The night of Halloween, Fred and Watson hear two guys in the shop trying to find some weed products there, but instead, they rob her. November first they find the body of the robber Fred saw in the shop. Now she has to figure out if one of the park rangers is the murderer.
It is proving to be a hard task for Winifred to figure out. I had a time figuring it out, and I didn’t get it until the evidence was there to prove that the person I thought did it was wrong then it was making sense to me. This one was hard.
Five Stars
I am giving five stars to this beautiful book. It had me guessing what was going to happen next throughout the entire thing. I just was shocked about a lot of stuff that was happening. For the mystery is trying a bit, I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to any cozy mystery reader out there.
Don’t forget to take a look at the recipe in the back. Katie’s Garlic Infused Artisan Bread sounds so good.

Christmas week sparkles with holiday decorations, sweet potato pie, lively tourists, and murder…
Estes Park is a wonderland of twinkling lights and softly falling snow, and Winifred Page wants nothing more than to snuggle in the mystery room with Watson at her feet—after all, Katie’s pastries are tempting pieces of heaven, especially beside a warm fire. But Christmas is fast approaching, and Fred is out on a cold morning visiting neighboring stores and planning a celebration at the Cozy Corgi Bookshop and Bakery.
Fred is welcoming the holiday spirit and appreciating the friendships, love, and support she’s found during her first year in her new home town. But the night’s festivities become a scene for local drama, and by morning a trip to the magic shop to collect a present has Fred and Watson stumbling upon a murder scene. In an unexpected twist, Fred is asked to investigate, but the suspect list keeps growing, and every one of them would give Ebenezer Scrooge a run for his money.
With Fred still coming to grips with a recent betrayal, shifting through all the curmudgeons to crack the case may take more holiday magic than she and Watson possess.
(This culinary cozy mystery includes a recipe for delectable sweet potato pie.)
Malevolent Magic by Mildred Abbott is another book that kind of had me stumped but not entirely.
Will Fred be able to prove that Mike Green didn’t kill his high school friend?
Fred Page
Fred Page is our sleuth and main character. We follow her along on this crazy mystery ride to try to figure out who killed Adam. She is still a great person and is doing an excellent job in solving these mysteries. Granted, she doesn’t want to be known as the lady who solves mysteries better than the police. Fred tries her best, and it’s pretty weird with who asked her to investigate this one.
I like that in this one Fred puts her differences with Susan behind to figure this out. Despite all the evidence pointing toward the brother.
The Mystery
Fred and Watson have a tough time trying to figure out this crime as it has way too many red herrings. Adam is the victim, and he isn’t a likable man, and it doesn’t help that he gets help for things that he probably shouldn’t. This case took Fred down so many different paths with a lot of red herrings, as I mentioned earlier, because of how many people she discovered didn’t like the victim and had a motive. I figured it out who did it earlier, but I wasn’t entirely satisfied until I got some more evidence on that person. I am happy to say that I was right.
Five Stars
Malevolent Magic by Mildred Abbott is an intriguing one that has a lot of twists and turns that Fred had to take to be able to figure out who the killer was. The mystery is demanding a bit, I am giving this book five stars and recommending it to any cozy mystery reader out there.
Don’t forget to take a look at the recipe in the back. Katie’s Sweet Potato Pie sounds so good.

A celebratory weekend at a historic inn brings a blizzard, delicious cornbread, a cozy fire, and a murder… or two…
Winifred Page and her sidekick corgi, Watson, join an assortment of family and friends to celebrate her uncles’ anniversary at Baldpate Inn, nestled above Estes Park, Colorado. A blizzard is approaching, but the prospect of being snowed in means more time in the lovely mountain retreat—complete with river rock fireplaces, log cabin rooms, and a collection of thousands of keys from around the world.
With the blizzard raging outside the rustic inn, the early arrival of a knitting group adds a touch of drama, but nothing can unravel the cozy party spirit. Even when the power goes out, the merrymaking continues by lantern light. But in the flickering shadows and twisting hallways, relationships transform, secrets are uncovered, and death comes calling.
A weekend of glittering celebration unlocks a storm of change for Fred and Watson…
Killer Keys by Mildred Abbott is a twisty-turvy ride of figuring out who-dun-it while celebrating an anniversary and having fun with being stuck in a blizzard.
A blizzard, two killers, and a whole Inn full of suspects? Fred is in way over her head.
Winifred Page
Fred is once again on the case. Well, even if she doesn’t want to this time. Everyone assumes that she will take it, and her uncles wanted this done and out of the way. Fred is an excellent sleuth and even better when Susan wants her help. Susan is also helping her out! That’s right Officer Susan Green is being kind of nice. Even Fred, herself, is having a hard time putting the pieces of this one together. It’s just so farfetched all of it.
What I like about Fred in this one is that she is trying her best to figure things out despite having a hard time connecting all the clues. It also doesn’t help that not a lot of the “suspects” are helpful.
The Mystery
Another doozy of a crime. Two murders in one place not all that far apart. It doesn’t help Fred or Susan out very much. They figured out the first murder of the German exchange worker Luca, and I did as well. But then another murder happens and this one is very bizarre. It brings around a lot of things that make it impossible and connect a lot of people that probably shouldn’t be connected. See doozy. Along with a lot of red herrings to fish through.
Five Stars Killer Keys by Mildred Abbott
Killer Keys by Mildred Abbott is an insanely well-written book that it had me guessing. I didn’t get who-dun-it, and I still don’t get it. Hopefully, Fred is handling this better than I am. Another one worthy of five stars for Mildred Abbott, and I can’t wait for the next books. I might even go back to reading the first few.
Don’t forget to check out the recipe in the back for Baldpate Inn’s Cornbread recipe.

However, just when they hunker down to examine the clues over the Cozy Corgi Bookshop & Bakery’s pastries, a revelation of a love-one’s past makes even Katie’s baking taste bitter. Before the dust can settle or Fred can come to terms with this new reality, the clock begins to tick and if she and Watson don’t put the puzzle pieces together in time, death is an inevitability.
