Casserole Casualty by Mildred Abbott has us rejoining the Twister Sisters in the early fall for another gruesome mystery.

Can the Twister Sisters prove that their casserole isn’t harming their clientele?

Cordelia, Wanda, and Pamela are returning with their business booming of bringing their casseroles to their clients. I have to say that I love seeing how Ms. Abbott brings food and mystery together seamlessly for this series. Cordelia is slowly getting together with Charlie, Wanda’s brother, and is quite happy where they are. Well, besides Ada, Charlie, and Wanda’s mom, sticking her nose where it doesn’t belong sometimes. Wanda has her grandson at her restaurant instead of attending college to get his premed degree. I have to say that Malik is quite the character, and anyone can tell that he is trying to make his grandma proud of him by trying to learn the family business at the restaurant. Pamela is the one that doesn’t have much of anything going on but is going on her way of perfecting the recipes that she finds online from the cozy corgi bakery.

These three girls always have something going on. I love how most of their clientele stands by their side despite some of the evidence that comes up.

The Mystery

Cordelia delivered the fateful casseroles that sent two loyal clients into two different situations. The first led to a death, and the second to the hospital with food poisoning. The second one, though, can’t really be blamed on the Twister Sisters, as anyone can mess up a casserole, especially if they didn’t mean to. Cordelia has taken it upon herself to solve the mystery of why someone is using their casseroles to hurt some of the older people of Willow Lane. I have to say that I thought I had it right, but the motive turned out wrong. Not that I am saying that person should have done what they did as it didn’t solve anything.

Five Stars

I am giving Casserole Casualty by Mildred Abbott five stars and a recommendation. Ms. Abbott always has a way of leading the reader a certain way while leaving clues that become awfully clear when the time comes to surprise everyone with who did it. Cordelia and the other citizens of Willow Lane have always seemed real whenever I open up one of these books, and I will always be happy to return to Willow Lane, Missouri. I do have to admit, though, that I hoped it was several other people who could have done it, but that’s mostly because I don’t like them, except I know that every book has to have those characters that make the reader hate them.

There is a recipe in the back of the book called Minnie’s Chicken Divan Casserole. It’s also featured throughout the book as well.
