Librarian Carrie Singleton must catch a killer before she can say “I do,” in the 8th delightful installment in Agatha Award-nominee Allison Brook’s Haunted Library Mystery series.

Carrie Singleton is about to kiss the single life goodbye. Her wedding to Dylan Avery is just a few weeks away, and a happy ending is about to be hers. But when a body is found on the lawn of their wedding venue, happily-ever-after is looking deadlier than ever.

The victim turns out to be Billy Carpenter, a young man recently released from prison after serving time for a bank robbery. The stolen money he’d buried is gone and Carrie and the police suspect Billy’s two alleged co-conspirators, his friends Luke Rizzo and Tino Valdez. But then Luke is murdered and Tino is nowhere to be found.
With no leads and only a week to go before her big day, Carrie is on the hunt for clues. She hopes to wrap up this investigation with a neat bow before she and Dylan tie the knot. Carrie has something old, something new, and something borrowed ready for her walk down the aisle. Now she needs to find the killer without becoming the ‘something blue.’

Booked on Murder by Allison Brook is a delightful ending to this wonderful series.

Will Carrie and Dylan get married without getting involved in a mystery?

Carrie Singleton is getting married to Dylan Avery in two weeks. She is so delighted to get to marry him and have a wonderful life together. Carrie gets roped into writing an article for the paper on a diary that she found in the Historical Archives for the Historical Room in the new wing. Well, after that, things took a downhill turn for Carrie. Except for getting things ready for her wedding. Carrie and Dylan are super cute together. I’m glad to see them solving mysteries together while Dylan keeps Carrie out of trouble. Well, he tries to keep her out of trouble. Dylan fits so nicely into her family, which is always great.

The Mystery

While checking out their wedding venue, Carrie and Dylan find a dead body in the backyard near the gazebo. The dead guy was digging a hole in the ground, looking for the money that he put there when his aunt and uncle still owned the property. Billy Carpenter, the dead guy, just got out of jail and went looking for the money that he stole from the bank five years ago, which is the whole reason why he went to prison in the first place. Carrie tries her hardest not to get sucked into the mystery, but every time there is a mystery, she ends up getting sucked in, especially when it concerns the diary she found and wrote the article about.

I have to say that I didn’t think the person who did it was the actual person until that person confessed. It was a whirlwind of a mystery, that’s for sure.

Five Stars

My rating for Booked on Murder by Allison Brook is five stars. I highly recommend this whole series, as it was fantastic to read. Seeing Carrie grow into the wonderful person she is now is amazing. I loved every single minute of it. Ms. Brook, I will miss these characters, but I can’t wait to see what you write next.
