With the official reopening of Brady’s and their sophomore year beginning, Maddie, Cornelious, Carly and Pilot are ready to shift their focus back to high school. Unfortunately, a month into the new school year many Asburyans find their bank accounts depleted, with no hint of foul play. Even the bank tellers insist that each withdrawal was done in person, with proper identification supplied and correct responses given to security questions.
Pilot, excited at the possibility of working with a cyber-crime, urges the gang to dive in—only to discover there are no traces of wrongdoing online either. Instantly intrigued, the gang decides to investigate the case before their own family’s accounts get hit.
However, with their successful sports teams, the continued growth and organization of the Pitbulls, possible new relationships blooming, dating and unrealized jealousies coming to the surface, the teenage sleuths find themselves more distracted than ever. After piecing together some clues, they wonder if someone in Asbury High is to blame for yet another crime.
Can Asbury’s favorite foursome figure out who is to blame before Asbury itself goes bankrupt?
Asbury High and the MisTaken Identities is the third book in an enticing young adult cozy mystery series that fans of Nancy Drew, The Hardy Boys and Scooby Doo will love.
Asbury High and the MisTaken Identity by Kelly Brady Channick is taking on another mystery with her four teenage sleuths solving crimes and becoming more like the Scooby-Doo gang with each story. The only thing that they are missing is their talking dog.
Can these four sleuths figure out who’s stealing people’s identity and their money?
The Sleuths
Carly, Maddie, Cornelius, and Pilot are starting their sophomore year of high school while hoping for a normal school year where they can enjoy going to classes and doing all their extracurriculars. Sadly, that isn’t to be the case when they stumble across a crime happening in both their town and their school nemesis Mainland’s turf. More on that later. Carly and Pilot are still dating and enjoying spending time with each other. She, Carly, is still into gossiping while being a cheerleader and studying her hardest. Carly and Cornelius also find out something important about Alexis in this installment. Pilot is always going to be our technology-driven guy that doesn’t do sports or anything like that.
Speaking of Cornelius, he is still playing football and basketball while trying to get good grades. Neal is a good guy who is still developing feelings for Maddie, and that is really cute to see that happening. Maddie is still playing soccer and basketball while studying hard and trying to do the book club. She is also babysitting her younger siblings still and whatever job that she can get at certain times. Maddie has multiple suitors that make Cornelius think about his feelings for her.
I love reading about these four sleuths as they remind me so much of Scooby-Doo, and I love how they work in their investigation when they can between everything they are all doing.
The Mystery
Someone in both Asbury and Mainland is stealing people’s identities and their money. How is the thief doing it? Along with how have they not have gotten caught by now? Apparently, it’s now up to our favorite four sleuths to get the job done of figuring out their suspects and motive. Along with how they are getting all of this information not to have gotten caught? All of these are good questions that have gotten answered in this installment. I got two of the suspects but not with how they were getting all of this information to do these heists at the bank.
Five Stars
Kelly Brady Channick has done another great job writing the third book, Asbury High and the MisTaken Identity, to one of my new favorite cozy mystery series. I look forward to reading these every time I see them come up. Ms. Channick has done an awesome job. I can’t wait to see what she does in the fourth book with the quartet’s next summer’s case.
Ms. Channick deserves this five-star rating along with a recommendation to anyone that loves Scooby-Doo and reading about teenage sleuths to give this series a chance. I loved it from the very beginning.
