Will Aisley’s dream man be everything that she wants him to be?
Aisley Montclair
Our heroine is Aisley. She is on a mission to save her father’s life. However, no one in her part of the world knows any way to help her father. He seems to be aging fast and losing the magic that he hides from everyone but his family. Aisley takes his leather bracelet and goes across the border to find out what the markings on the bracelet mean. However, her questions spark a rival group to start looking for her family.
I like Aisley; she is brave, intelligent, extremely caring, and likes to reason things out before jumping to conclusions. Aisley handles all things with Cadrian well; she thinks through and asks questions that help her assess what is needed. She is also an outstanding chef, and the other guardians have decided that this is her best feature.
Cadrian Ethanael
Our hero is Cadrian, who is the Blackstar Guardian. Cadrian is extremely powerful, but also full of love. In fact, he has saved many souls in his time as the guardian. He adopts them and raises them to be guardians themselves. Cadrian and Aisley have a beautiful connection that suits them perfectly.
I like Cadrian. He is a bit bossy, but after learning everything about him, it is understandable. I genuinely appreciate his compassion and willingness to listen before resorting to force.
Four Stars
My rating for A Dream of Magic by J. Megan Smith is four stars. I love the story, especially the wonderful world that Ms. Smith has built. However, I would have liked to get to know the characters a bit more. That being said, we do get to know the power couple stars of this installment, and I assume that each installment gets better and better. I will be adding them to my TBR. I really hope to return to the Blackstar Guardians soon.

With a head filled with characters clamoring to be heard, it was inevitable that Megan would try to get them down on paper. Literally. After writing her first short stories in spiral bound notebooks, she quickly realized that as romantic as it sounded, writing on a computer was a whole lot easier.
She has been an administrative assistant, assistant manager of a gift store, preschool, kindergarten and First Grade teacher. She had a lovely childhood, growing up as one of nine children and always had someone to laugh and play with and have her back-giving her endless ideas. Now, as an adult, she’s still blessed to have the same-though they’re all flung across the country now. It’s a beautiful thing in this world to know there’s always someone there who has your back and loves you unconditionally.
She tries to imbue that same feeling in her stories, creating worlds that leave you with a happy glow as you close the book.
