Recently moved to LA from London with his dad and elder sister after the loss of his mother; he had never felt more abandoned and misunderstood. What should have been the most exciting time for a 13-year-old in the California beach city of Riviera quickly becomes a test of friendships, family, and even his sanity. With his unexpectedly found friend, the feisty Tally, and the geek that no one wants to be friends with, Milos, what starts as a school assignment fast becomes a mission, then a passion, and then a terrifying nightmare.

Alfie must not only confront the demons of the middle school corridor but also his own demons that have lain hidden with the passing of his mother, and then ultimately and most dangerously, he must face the ancient demon of the woods: Bigfoot. BTW: It exists!

Can Alfie sort through his feelings?

Alfie, Tally, and Milos

Alfie is new to the whole school system of the States and doesn’t like how he went from being in high school to middle school. He is a good kid but with the recent loss of his mum (mom) Alfie doesn’t know how to act. I do feel bad for Alfie but I think that having this school project of his really helped him out. Okay, at least it is helping him out and making new friends doesn’t hurt either.

Tally is the first friend that Alfie sort of makes. She is skateboarder who doesn’t like bullies but just like Alfie she is hiding some demons. I like Tally a lot since she has a lot of spunk but also a way about her that I think helps soothes a part of Alfie. Tally is an awesome character.

Last up we have is Milos. He is the definition of a nerd. I like that he and Alfie share the same class that gave them the assignment and lead to this weird friendship. Milos has his own insecurities and I think that these three unlikely friends make the best trio group.

The Story

Alfie has been over in Los Angeles for barely a month before he has to go to back to school in a place that he has never even heard of before. What started as a school assignment to get them thinking turned into a bit of a dangerous mission for the three of them. I was in shock of what Mr. Williams had their adventures be. Shocked in a good way as it kept me turning the page to see what happened next.

My rating for Alfie and the Bigfoot of Bluff Creek by NJ Williams is five stars. I do recommend this book as it made me laugh while I was reading. Alfie is funny and I can’t wait to see what happens next especially for this new friendship trio.
