Suzanne Marsh has discovered a second body in a second historical site. First, she has to convince the police the man was murdered. Then she has to find out who and why a loving grandpa was killed on an outing with his family.

Death at Yorktown by Tracy Wainwright is a fast-paced mystery.

Will Suzanne find the killer before he realizes she is working on the case?

Suzanne Marsh

Our investigator is Suzanne Marsh. She is a private investigator who specializes in insurance fraud. Suzanne sees puzzles slightly differently from your average Joe. She is also widowed and has been for a bit of time. However, it seems she has at least a couple of would-be suitors once she is ready to return to the dating game.

I like Suzanne. Her way of investigating is different, but it makes sense to her. I hope that she can let go of the fear and grief and move on with her life. It would be tragic if she continued to ignore everything but her cases. She doesn’t seem to have a lot of friends, but since the story is short, it’s hard to tell if she has more than her best friend Bart and the police detectives that she investigates with.

The Mystery

Death at Yorktown CRWhile on one of her insurance cases, Suzanne ends up at Yorktown Historical Park, where she finds a body. Little does Suzanne know, but her mother is good friends with the deceased. This does help with her investigation. Although technically, it isn’t her investigation; it is the assigned detective’s case.  Detective Jeff Redman is willing to allow Suzanne to assist him, but he clearly isn’t willing to let her put herself in danger.

Four Stars

My rating for Death at Yorktown by Tracy Wainwright is four stars. I enjoyed the story. I like the characters, setting, and mystery. It is just that I had one question at the end that didn’t get resolved. I do recommend the Historic Triangle Mini Cozy Mystery series.
