WHAT IF FOLLOWING HER HEART MEANS ROSE COULD LOSE HER BEST FRIEND FOREVER?
Lissa Dragomir is a Moroi princess: a mortal vampire with a rare gift for harnessing the earth's magic. She must be protected at all times from Strigoi; the fiercest vampires - the ones who never die. The powerful blend of human and vampire blood that flows through Rose Hathaway, Lissa's best friend, makes her a Dhampir. Rose is dedicated to a dangerous life of protecting Lissa from the Strigoi, who are hell-bent on making Lissa one of them.
Rose knows it is forbidden to love another guardian. Her best friend, Lissa - the last Dragomir princess - must always come first. Unfortunately, when it comes to gorgeous Dimitri Belikov, some rules are meant to be broken...
Then a strange darkness begins to grow in Rose's mind, and ghostly shadows warn of a terrible evil drawing nearer to the Academy's iron gates. The immortal undead are closing in, and they want vengeance for the lives Rose has stolen. In a heart-stopping battle to rival her worst nightmares, Rose will have to choose between life, love, and the two people who matter most... but will her choice mean that only one can survive?
When I read the plot I sort of guessed that maybe Rose is putting too much on her shoulders to deal with all at once but after I started to read the book I couldn’t help but think of it as another good book for character development.
Though I do feel bad for Rose who is seeing Mason’s ghost around the campus and is the only one that I can see him thanks to her being Shadow Kissed. Toward the end of the book we find with why Rose is seeing ghosts and with why Mason is able to be seen as a ghost on the school’s campus.
The end of this book was a shocker to me about what happened to Dimitri and with what Rose ended up doing on her eighteenth birthday. I also feel bad for Lissa who is trying to be there for Rose even though she doesn’t know with what is wrong or going on in Rose’s head. Except for her wanting to do something to Dimitri that both he and Rose said, in the first book, that they would rather die than being a Strigoi. We also don’t see much of Mia in here. Actually we don’t see Mia in this book at all. I was wondering with what happened to our little porcelain doll friend.
But yes this is another good book from Richelle Mead in this Vampire Academy series.
