Ava and Carol
Ava and Carol are in Tempest, Maine leading up to Halloween and the day after Halloween. In their room, they find a locket that belonged to the original house owners whom they have been renting for a short time. Ava and Carol get knee-deep into researching the locket so that they can return it to the rightful owner. I love how Ava and Carol set up their website to make their investigations real and that they are great at their jobs. Well, besides being kids who also go to school. Ava and Carol are so funny together and quite the opposite of each other. It’s what makes them a great team.
The Mystery
Ava and Carol find a locket, so they decide instead of giving it to the people they are renting the house from that, they will return the locket to the original owner. That is a descendant of Alice Scarlett. Now, while doing their research to do this, they also get wrapped up in finding the treasure in the locket. Ava and Carol, along with their new friend Haylee, set out to find the treasure and a descendant of the Scarlett family to give everything to them. I love their ambition of ensuring that the locket and treasure go to the right people. Of course, along the way, the girls run into trouble.
Five Stars
The Witch’s Secret by Thomas Lockhaven sees the girls running into more and more trouble but this time for a good reason. I love how Mr. and Mrs. Clarke always bring Carol with them whenever they are traveling to keep Ava company and that they are in Maine. Ava and Carol always somehow find a mystery to solve. Mr. Lockhaven does fantastic work with this series, and I can’t wait to read more.
I am giving The Witch’s Secret by Thomas Lockhaven five stars and a recommendation to read to anyone who loves a good Middle Grade Mystery. Especially for Halloween or even after Halloween if you aren’t ready to give up Halloween’s holiday spirit to Thanksgiving just yet.

Forty years later, I was able to fulfill my dreams and become a full time writer. When I began writing, I decided that my books would be a safe-haven from the real world. My children’s series all have strong messages of perseverance, thinking outside the box, friendship and loyalty.
