Road to Christmas 2018ROAD TO CHRISTMAS

Network: Hallmark

Stars: Jessy Schram, Chad Michael Murray, and Teryl Rothery

Los Angeles television producer Maggie Baker (Schram) unwittingly falls for Danny Wise (Murray), the son and former producer of his mother’s (Rothery) popular annual Christmas special Julia Wise Lifestyle. When Maggie’s secret plan to reunite Danny and his two brothers with Julia during the live broadcast in Vermont goes awry, Maggie is reminded that above all, it is the love for family and friends that makes the merriest of Christmas.

My rating:

five-starsMy thoughts:

First, I want to say that I didn’t think I would like this movie but it was a pleasant surprise. The show was so wonderful.

I really liked the chemistry between Jessy Schram and Chad Michael Murray. This role is one of his better ones of late.

The characters were well developed, and there was a holiday feeling to the entire show.

Miscellaneous Details

Julia Wise doesn’t spend Christmas with her sons since husband’s passing. She dove into her business to help her deal with her grief.

Julia’s Sons
  • Danny – first born – second adopted
  • David – second born – first adopted
  • Derek – third born – third adopted

Maggie wants to shoot the whole special live from Julia’s home in Vermont. However, Julia is nervous about a full live Christmas special and asks her son Danny to assist with it. Danny wants to go traditional with pre-recorded segments. Right off the bat, they have a bit of competition and ill feelings towards each other. Maggie is pushy, and Danny is rather standoffish.

It’s better to ask forgiveness rather than permission. ~ Maggie’s favorite quote

Maggie comes up with some ideas for segments that she can grab on her way to Vermont from California. Danny insists that he should go too and he becomes the film crew. She also decides that she is going to get Julia’s three sons to join Julia for Christmas. See, pushy but good intentions.

Segments
  • Family Owned Christmas Tree Farm in Colorado
  • Snowman Relay (Maggie, Danny, and Derek)
  • Family Games like White Elephant (with Maggie’s family in Nebraska)
  • Puppy Christmas Party (at David’s Pet Rescue Center in Connecticut)
  • Christmas Travelers at a train station (on the way to Vermont)
My favorite quote:

Let’s just enjoy each others enjoyment. ~ Julia Wise

Here’s a little something new from me. You know that in Hallmark romances the couple doesn’t kiss until the end usually. I thought it would be cute to keep track of the number of kisses. This game is something that my family and I do when watching each movie.
