Felicity Brooks is a talented artist but her career is cut short when her father passes away. Realizing the importance of family, she travels home to care for her mother. When Felicity meets their charming new neighbor, a fine-looking bachelor, she soon discovers that he is hiding his true identity. Nicholas Adams is on a quest. But that is not all. When she finds out that someone is after a valuable heirloom…a precious treasure that her father discovered in his attic, her life takes a new turn. Will one last dance heal her broken heart?

One Last Dance by Linda Weaver Clarke is a lovely book about life back in 1835. It was interesting to read about it and how the officers were holding the law.

Will a lawman fall in love with an art teacher?

Felicity Brooks

The female main character is Felicity Brooks, and she is one half of this romance. Felicity’s father has recently passed, and she is back home to mourn his loss. She is an artist that teaches at a girls seminary in New York. Her mother is trying to set her up with the town’s newest bachelor. Felicity is wary of Nicholas at first because of his questions and the reason for him being there. She realizes that she has feelings for Nicholas, but he may not be marriage material.  I think that I would be friends with Felicity if we were in the same time period as she is.  I love art as much as she does, and I am the youngest sibling as well.

Nicholas Adams

The male main character is Nicholas Adams, and he is the second half of this romance. Nicholas is a lawman that is under the guise of a businessman. He is searching for a suspect of numerous crimes that he has been after for three years. Nicholas is thirty-three-years-old with a mother that is hounding him to find a wife and settle down to give her grandbabies. He liked his job for a while, but after coming here, he might be changing his mind about it. Nicholas thinks he knows who the criminal is, but he is sorely mistaken when Nicholas finally catches the thief in the act. He is a very entertaining character.

Four Stars

One Last Dance by Linda Weaver Clarke is a beautiful book that has mystery and romance within it. The mystery is why Nicholas Adams is there, and the romance for Felicity and Nicholas being together. Never in my wildest dreams would I have ever thought that the criminal would be who it was. I was mistaken. I am giving this book a four-star rating, and I will be recommending it to all of you readers of Historical Romances.
