Samantha is a teenager with a dream. She wants to play professional soccer. But she wishes babysitting her six-year-old sister Skylar didn’t get in the way of her practice so much.

One day, she bumps into a brunette on the street who claims to be Skylar. But the girl is a teenager so that can’t be right. Wait. She says she’s from the future? What?

As Samantha gets to know the future version of her younger sister, she is forced to rethink their relationship. But that’s not all. Skylar seems to be a completely different person in the future. How did her bubbly baby sister grow up to be so stiff and stoic?

Skylar is hiding something for sure. But what?

Older Younger Sister by Manisha Sarker is an entrancing book about one sister trying to help another sister.

Can Samantha figure out why a teenage Skylar is in her time?

Samantha is only fifteen years old and wants to become a soccer star when she grows up. The only problem she has is her baby sister Skylar who needs her attention all the time. Skylar is six years old and just wants to spend time with her sister, who is five years older. Samantha and Skylar’s story is pretty intense as anyone can see how much these two sisters love each other despite one always bellyaching about taking care of the other sister. I loved everything about these two sisters.

Older Younger Sister CRNow for the ‘future Skylar’ apparently something happens since six years old Skylar is bubbly while seventeen, Skylar is more subdued and into being with herself. Sam feels like it is her mission to figure out what happened with why Skylar turned out to be so different. I like future Skylar a lot, as she is an awesome and cool character. Sam is also a cool character, and I loved them both. These two sisters are a great team.

Even with this story being short, you can tell about how well developed these two characters are.

Four Stars

Older Younger Sister by Manisha Sarker is so much better than I thought it would be. It kept me entertained throughout the entire time that I was reading it. Ms. Sarker has a knack for writing, and I do like how well thought out this story was from start to finish. I am giving it four stars and recommending it.
