FROM EXCITING ROMANCE AUTHOR ROXANNE BLACKHALL
Book one in the Bristol Park series

The only thing standing in the way of Cat renovating her late grandmother’ s inn is one annoying handyman. If only he wasn’t so sexy.

Cat wants nothing more than to get away from her late husband’ s overbearing family. Discovering her grandmother left her the sole ownership of a family resort in the Catskills town of Abbeydon feels like a chance for a fresh start. Her dreams come face to face with cold hard reality when she sees the dilapidated condition of the place. She rolls up her sleeves and gets busy, with help from the local handyman, who is too hot and too charming for words. But Cat has no use for playboys like her late husband.

Nate happily ignores the attentions of the local ladies, that is, until this ice princess, city girl shows up and challenges his contented solitary state. He figures Cat’ s just gonna flip the property and get the hell out, but every time he thinks he’ s got her pegged, she proves there’ s more to her than he ever imagined, and it’ s not all icicles.

An epic snowstorm strands them at the house and their chemistry overwhelms their resolve to resist temptation and keep things strictly professional. Then a developer sets their sights on Abbeydon and Bristol Park, threatening to ruin the cozy charm of the town, and making Cat even more determined to rebuild. Costs are mounting, and when she discovers Nate has a connection to the developer, Cat will need to learn to trust to save both the property and their relationship.

Finally Seen by Kelly Yang Finally Seen by Kelly Yang

Publication Date: February 28, 2023

Genre: Middle Grade

Goodreads | BookBub | Amazon

From the New York Times bestselling author of Front Desk comes a gripping middle grade novel about a young girl who leaves China to live with her parents and sister, after five years apart, and learns about family, friendship, and the power of being finally seen.

My sister got to grow up with my parents. Me? I grew up with postcards from my parents. When ten-year-old Lina Gao steps off the plane in Los Angeles, it’s her first time in America and the first time seeing her parents and her little sister in five years! She’s been waiting for this moment every day while she lived with her grandmother in Beijing, getting teased by kids at school who called her “left behind girl.” Finally, her parents are ready for her to join their fabulous life in America! Except, it’s not exactly like in the postcards:

1. School’s a lot harder than she thought. When she mispronounces some words in English on the first day, she decides she simply won’t talk. Ever again.

2. Her chatty little sister has no problem with English. And seems to do everything better than Lina, including knowing exactly the way to her parents’ hearts.

3. They live in an apartment, not a house like in Mom’s letters, and they owe a lot of back rent from the pandemic. And Mom’s plan to pay it back sounds more like a hobby than a moneymaker.

As she reckons with her hurt, Lina tries to keep a lid on her feelings, both at home and at school. When her teacher starts facing challenges for her latest book selection, a book that deeply resonates with Lina, it will take all of Lina’s courage and resilience to get over her fear in order to choose a future where she’s finally seen.

Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind by Misa Sugiura Momo Arashima Steals the Sword of the Wind by Misa Sugiura

Publication Date: February 28, 2023

Genre: Middle Grade Fantasy

Goodreads | BookBub | Amazon

A thrilling fantasy series about a twelve year old girl who sets out to save her Shinto goddess mother—and the world—by facing down demons intent on bringing chaos.

All Momo wants for her twelfth birthday is an ordinary life—like everyone else’s. At home, she has to take care of her absentminded widowed mother. At school, kids ridicule her for mixing up reality with the magical stories her mother used to tell her.

But then Momo’s mother falls gravely ill, and a death hag straight out of those childhood stories attacks Momo at the mall, where she’s rescued by a talking fox . . . and “ordinary” goes out the window. It turns out that Momo’s mother is a banished Shinto goddess who used to protect a long-forgotten passageway to Yomi—a.k.a. the land of the dead. That passageway is now under attack, and countless evil spirits threaten to escape and wreak havoc across the earth.

Joined by Niko the fox and Danny—her former best friend turned popular jerk, whom she never planned to speak to again, much less save the world with—Momo must embrace her (definitely not “ordinary”) identity as half human, half goddess to unlock her divine powers, save her mother’s life, and force the demons back to Yomi.

My stepdad is really into this series and has requested that I read it. We watched it on Paramount+, which was pretty good, so I thought, what the heck? It is a bit of a different genre for me, but I plan to read the series’ first and maybe the second book. So, I will let you know if the book or the television series is better.

Joe Pickett #23

Publication Date: February 28, 2023

Genre: Thriller

Goodreads | BookBub | Amazon

Wyoming Game Warden Joe Pickett investigates a mysterious death at a secret remote high-tech facility in this riveting new novel from #1 New York Times bestseller C.J. Box.

When a prominent University of Wyoming professor goes missing, authorities are stumped. That is, until Joe Pickett makes two surprising discoveries while hunting down a wounded elk on his district as an epic spring storm descends upon him. First, he finds the professor’s vehicle parked on a remote mountainside. Then Joe finds the professor’s frozen and mutilated body. When he attempts to learn more, his investigation is obstructed by federal agents, extremists, and Governor Colter Allen.

Nate Romanowski is rebuilding his falconry company—and financing this through crypto mining with the assistance of Geronimo Jones. He’s then approached by a shadowy group of local militant activists that is gaining in power and influence, and demanding that Wyoming join other western states and secede from the union—by force, if necessary. They ask Nate to throw in with them, but he’s wary. Should he trust them, or is he being set up?

As a storm of peril gathers around them, Joe and Nate confront it in different ways—and maybe, for the first time, on opposite sides.

A young scientist finds a magical way to escape death, but can’t escape her emotions.

Twelve-year-old Juniper Edwards can’t stop chasing the endangered butterfly her sister died trying to catch. In her grief, Juniper finds comfort in her family’s study of insects, because science is based on logic, order, and control. But then Juniper’s search for the butterfly nearly kills her, too, and when she wakes up with newfound abilities, she discovers that the line between science and magic―and life and death―is not as solid as she thought. With the help of her mysterious neighbors, Juniper tries an experiment to change things back to the way they were.
