The Baroness’ Choices of New Books Publishing This Week

2024, Week 10’s New Books

My choices for this week include YA Romance, YA Historical Romance, Cozy Paranormal Culinary Mystery, Middle Grades, Cozy Culinary Mystery, MG Fantasy, YA Romantic Fantasy, MG Fantasy, Thriller, Police Procedural Mystery, and Culinary Mystery.

Woohoo! It’s the third month of the year. It’s also my favorite month since it’s the start of springtime. Warmer weather but not too warm. I mean by that, is that we can go outside with jeans and a light jacket. Oh, and the flowers are popping up all over, the trees are blooming too. March is also my Birthday month, so there’s that.

Both Jen and I have a review each coming out at some point with these books. My book review won’t come out until next week, though, after the book has been released.

Here are my choices for New Books Publishing Week 10 of 2024!

Unexpected Seasons #2

Publication Date: March 5, 2024

Genre: Young Adult Historical Romance

Goodreads | Bookhype | BookBub | StoryGraph | Amazon | Barnes & Noble | Nook

A standalone companion to An Improbable Season, this Regency romance ― perfect for fans of Bridgerton ― is about following your heart, pursuing your dreams, and falling head over heels in love.

Eleanor did not come to London to be proper and boring. After the death of her husband and a year of mourning, the seventeen year old wants nothing more than her independence and to have a little fun. She’s hardly looking to remarry, despite pressures from her late husband’s nephew, who is keen on obtaining her inheritance. Eleanor quickly devises a plan that includes a fake engagement. What’s not a part of the plan? Falling for a dashing, quiet man outside of her social circle – a man who is not her betrothed. Can she survive the Season with her heart and her fortune intact?

Thalia is determined to begin afresh after a disastrous first Season in London. No romantic distractions, but only her work as a poet and newfound companion to Eleanor. Determined to get her poems published, she struggles to be taken seriously as a female writer. As the spring progresses, Thalia does not expect to take interest in a man from her past (a man who is engaged to her employer, no less!), but some feelings demand to be felt even if the timing isn’t quite right.

Rosalyn Eves’s An Unlikely Proposition is a transportive Regency drama that captures the sparkle of London, thrill of friendship, and swoon of new love.

Jiyoung “Gigi” Shin loves to create, from her zany outfits to self-executed haircuts. When Gigi learns about an elite art camp on the east coast, she’s determined to go. But she knows her parents won’t let her, much less pay for it. After overhearing her little brother Tommy complain about how hard math is and how his teacher goes too fast for him, Gigi has a brilliant idea: forming a tutoring club with her friends to make enough money for the art camp.

With Carolina, Zeina, and Carolina’s friend, Emma, the girls go all in, each with a reason for wanting the business to succeed. But the first few sessions with their classmates are a little chaotic, and Gigi wonders if she will end up sacrificing more than she bargained for to achieve her dreams.

She’s returning to Summertime Chinese Culture, Wellness, and Enrichment Experience (SCCWEE for short and “Squee” to campers in the know), and this year she’s a senior camper. On the day Phoenny arrives, though, she learns that the Squad has been split up, and there’s an influx of new campers this year. Phoenny is determined to be welcoming and to share all the things she loves about camp—who doesn’t love spending hours talking about and engaging in cultural activities? But she quickly learns how out of touch she is with others’ experiences, particularly of the campers who are adoptees. She hopes she’ll have time for cocktails and Easter parades with her friends, too-as well as the next step in her romance with fellow bartender Neil.

As they face a farting ghost, an unexpected gig, spooky surprises and the wacky charms of the French Quarter on Easter weekend, can Pepper and Neil unravel the mystery before they’re flamed like a lemon peel in a Vieux Carré?
