Plot Summary:
Jennifer Shannon, our garage sale treasure hunter and mom, sees a string of burglaries in her town and then finds the dead body of her friend. The police decide it was an accident, but Jennifer doesn’t believe that. She starts investigating, finds the culprits, and thus begins the Garage Sale Mystery Series.

My Thoughts:
The beginning of the Garage Sales Mystery series is an actual puzzle, one that Jennifer needs to figure out for the sake of her friend who has died. Jennifer is a great sleuth, and this one showcases how she started investigating mysteries that she somehow stumbles upon while going to garage sales.
We see several characters in this movie that aren’t there anymore or have been recast, like Jennifer’s husband and her daughter. I am glad that this series is getting a second chance on Hallmark.
My mom and I are liking coming back to watching these, but not so much my stepdad. I did guess the first part of the mystery, but not really the second.
I didn’t think the chemistry between Jennifer and her husband was really there. The actress playing the daughter might not have been a great fit, since she seemed a bit older than I would think for a college-aged character.
Other than that, I like everyone in this movie and love the way Jennifer helps solve the mystery. Even if I feel like she took over the investigation from the detective, who seemed like he was solving his first murder, despite being a detective.
Coming back to watch the first movie again, after all these years, seemed like a great way to start this series of posts up again. Lori Laughlin is a brilliant actress who shines fantastically in this series.
