Summary:

The BIGGEST Kiki book yet!
Introducing the Miss Fits, ordinary women who do extra-ordinary things!
Every holiday season, Kiki Lowenstein plans 12 days of classes, her Holiday Craft Extravaganza. And every year, it nearly kills her.

This year is no exception. As the holiday season approaches, Kiki over-schedules herself and winds up running herself ragged. To make life even more stressful, she must fend off a stalker, a man determined to possess the object of his affection. But that’s only one problem.

Kiki’s ace full-time employee, Clancy, has HUGE decisions to make. How do you put aside your hurt and disappointment when you’ve been betrayed? Why should you upend your whole life because of another person’s mistake? Is it selfish to think of yourself first? As Clancy ponders questions, Kiki stands on the sidelines, knowing this is not her choice to make. And yet…Kiki feels Clancy’s agony.

Meanwhile, both of Kiki’s older kids are having problems with teachers. Kiki wonders, “At what point does being an involved parent tip over into being a helicopter parent?” There’s also a staff shortage that leaves Kiki in the lurch, both at home and at the store. Kiki might have found an answer to that dilemma when a mysterious woman applies for a job. Her name is Nona, and she claims to be an old friend of an old friend. But is she?

Nona seems too good to be true. Sadly, that might be the least of Kiki’s problems with the woman. Because Nona isn’t what she seems to be. Nona is a Miss Fit.

Interview with Kiki Lowenstein

How did you and your author meet?

Joanna loves to craft. She came into my store in St. Louis to buy supplies, and we got to talking. When she saw I have a Great Dane, she went crazy over my dog. That’s how we bonded.

Why did this writer decide to feature you in a book?

Joanna thinks I live a crazy life. That’s true. I have three kids and a husband who is a homicide detective. Secretly, I also think that Joanna envies me because of my unlimited crafting supplies.

Do you have any friends or family helping you out?

Yes. I have a nanny named Brawny, who lives with us. I think that the world’s greatest labor-saving device is a nanny. I could be wrong, but I’m pretty sure I’ve got that right.

Do you have a regular job and investigate on the side or are you a full time detective?

Oh, golly, I wish I only had a full-time job. I’m the mother of three kids, and I own a crafting store. I think that qualifies me for working every waking hour. As for being a detective, I’m not a detective. My husband is. I’m only an amateur who gets dragged into sticky situations.

What is the funniest thing that happens to you or another character in this story?

My mother-in-law, Sheila, decides to give her maid the day off and make dinner for us. Sheila is self-absorbed, to put it kindly. She keeps calling me at work and asking me stupid questions. For example, she expects me to be able to recite a recipe for latkes (potato pancakes) off the top of my head! How silly is that?

Have you solved other cases or is this your first one?

My other cases have been featured in 17 other Kiki books and 42 Kiki short stories.

Do you have a gift or special talent?

I’m incredibly creative. I think outside of the box, and that makes me good at solving crimes and helping people out of tough spots.

Who is the most important individual in your life?

My daughter, Anya. Okay, maybe it’s my husband Detweiler or my other two kids, Erik and Ty, but at the beginning of the series, it’s Anya.

What is your ideal vacation?

Walking the beach in Florida.

If you could change anything about your life what would it be?

I would add more hours to the day.
