As luck would have it, less than twenty-four hours after their initial meeting, police discovered Theo's wife's abandoned car at the Chicago lakefront. Blood in the car along with an empty bottle of Oxycotin didn't bode well for a positive outcome. Grace had to hit the ground running if she wanted to get ahead of the vultures.
Run-of-the-mill missing person cases were never easy. But this predicament had crash and burn written all over it. Providing top-notch detective services to a well-known highly visible public individual could prove to be challenging if not impossible. And somehow she'd be responsible for trying to figure out how to thread that needle!
It didn't take long for all hell to break loose. Grace tried to do her job while juggling the press, Chicago PD, possible suspects, and a host of folks who thought they should contribute to the chaos. Which, of course, made everything worse.
With her back up against the wall and a client that wasn't big on sharing information, she couldn't be sure she'd ever be able to put together all the pieces of this puzzle. She might have to face the real possibility this could be her last case.

Grace is our private investigator. She is a former police detective. Grace recently found the love of her life in Dr. Cord James. The two of them are cute together. Hank is Grace’s former partner in the CPD, and they are best friends. I like Grace. She has money but is down-to-earth, intelligent, pretty, and a brilliant investigator. However, she might want to take a few self-defense classes as she got beaten up several times.
Grace, along with Tony and Sydney, her P.I. team, are hired to locate Theo Carter’s strange wife. Not estranged but strange. They are all over Chicago and into Wisconsin, trying to find Eliana. But no one has seen her, and everyone they ask, including Theo, is giving them the runaround. However, Grace is more cunning than the culprits give her credit for, or she could be lucky.
There are so many things going on in Grace’s life, but with her friends-made-into-family around her, she seems to be handling it all with class.
I truly liked the dynamic crew that Grace has at Grace Power’s Detective Agency. Tony is extraordinarily techy and good at setting witnesses at ease while questioning them. Sydney is a go-getter and blends into places well. Let’s not forget Buddy, Grace’s dog, who assists when he is available.
Five Stars
I truly enjoyed this third installment of Grace Power Mysteries. Let’s hope I find the time to read the previous two before the next one comes out. Anyway, my rating for Fame, Fortune and Secrets by Wendy Byrne is Five Stars. I recommend this to all you mystery readers out there. Ms. Byrne brings mystery and romance together beautifully.
