CATS, COTTON, AND…MURDER—
The worlds of Sarah Booth Delaney’s Zinnia, Mississippi and Trouble, the black cat detective, collide in this fast-paced tale of high stakes cotton research, abduction, and murder.

Trouble, the Sherlockian feline, falls in with Pluto, another cat with a yin for detective work, to find the missing Trudy Wells. But the cats aren’t alone. Tabitha Kingsley, posing as a psychic medium, has come to the Mississippi Delta to find her missing sister.

Standing in Tabitha’s way is the cynical—and compelling—Roger Long. Roger manages the vast Long Agricultural Products farm and business. Trudy was his newly hired receptionist—and possible lover--before she disappeared.

In a world of wealth and privilege, Tabitha must discover the truth of what her rebellious, sometimes law-breaking, sister was really up to. And she must trust Roger to help her.

Trouble and Pluto aid the bipeds in finding the answers—to Trudy’s vanishing act and also to the path to trust.

Bone-a-fied Trouble by Carolyn Haines brings Trouble to Sunflower County with mystery filled with greed, jealousy, and deceit.

Will Trouble and Pluto find Trudy before it is too late?

The Mystery

While visiting Zinnia, Trouble teams up with Pluto to find the missing owner of Vesta. As we know, Trouble is always up for a case. He and Pluto assist Tabitha and Roger in finding Trudy and figuring out what is happening in Sunflower County. Multiple things are happening in Sunflower County, Mississippi, that all seem to revolve around cotton. There is big money in cotton, and with it comes even bigger risks.

I love Trouble. Cats are all unique in their personalities, and the differences between the three in this mystery are perfect. Trouble, of course, has a strong mind of his own. I adore the way that Ms. Haines writes his point of view. The black cat detective has a fantastic way of communicating and deducing clues.

Bone-a-fied Trouble CRThe Romance

In this installment, Trouble assists three couples in the romantic department. Tabitha and Roger, Trudy and Dirk, and Pluto and Vesta. Tabitha and Roger are two points of view that we follow.

I think Tabitha has some untapped talents she isn’t completely aware of. She has a kind heart, and yet she isn’t afraid to use any means to find her sister. Tabitha is a column writer and songwriter who lives in the French Quarter of New Orleans. She looks delicate but is strong as steel on the inside. Tabitha didn’t realize she was missing something/one in her life until she met Roger.

Roger is a good guy who is a dictator. He runs the family farm and is wealthy, down to earth, and nice with excellent manners. His aunt and uncle are the sweetest people who would give anyone the shirt off their back to help. However, his mother is a piece of work. What a spoiled brat!

Tabitha and Roger are open to Trouble and Pluto working on the investigation. They even learn communication tips from the two cats and are actively speaking to the cats.

Five Stars

I completely adore this series, and Bone-a-fied Trouble by Carolyn Haines is a fantastic showing of what a great author she is. Ms. Haines always includes a message in her books. Whether you agree with it or not, she always presents it and the issues around it. This installment is about genetically modified cotton seeds and their effect on our environment.

My rating for Bone-a-fied Trouble by Carolyn Haines is five stars, and I highly recommend it to everyone.
