Laura is a liberated and courageous young lady who is convinced that she can make a difference in the small town of Willow Valley. Standing in Town Square, she encourages all women to fight for their rights and stand up for their beliefs. Equality is her message. When Deputy Davies meets Laura, he is intrigued with her independent nature. He admires her spunk and wonders if such a woman would be interested in a small town deputy like himself.

A Mississippi Sunset by Linda Weaver Clarke is a one-woman crusade on getting equality in a time frame when that wasn’t possible.

Can Laura get her message across? Could she have found love while her parents are away?

Laura

Laura is a new resident of Willow Valley, and she has a good education that not a lot of other folks in Willow Valley have gotten. While Laura was getting her education, she decided that she needed to voice her opinion about the equality of not only for women but for everyone including the slaves.

Not everyone is happy about her lectures or anything like that, but Laura doesn’t care as she is getting her message across. Laura doesn’t care if it doesn’t happen in her lifetime as long as there is equality for everyone, and for women to have the right to vote or get a job. That is why Laura to me is a great character in the time frame when women are just meant for housework and when the South had slaves. Laura was a great influencer in the fictional time of 1844.

A Mississippi Sunset CRWilliam

William is the brother of the heroine from A Lady of Resentment and is now a deputy. He is a funny character in the way that he pulls a lot of pranks on people that he knows but William wants more from life. He just doesn’t want to be known as the prankster deputy but as a husband and a best friend. William meets Laura one day. He is smitten after a while of her joking around with him about not saving a dance for him at the Saturday social.

These two make a cute couple and I wish them well in their happily ever after.

Five Stars

A Mississippi Sunset by Linda Weaver Clarke is the last so far of little novellas in this Women of Courage series that she has written. Ms. Clarke has done a fantastic job of taking these stories from a short story collection she did and adding some more scenes to them to make them a lot longer. I loved every one of them just like I did from the first time I read them as short stories.

I am giving A Mississippi Sunset by Linda Weaver Clarke five stars and I am recommending it to anyone that loves a Sweet Historical Romance to give these a try. Along with maybe some of the other books that star in Willow Valley as there are quite a few of them.
