Plot Summary:

Former Detective Jeff Jackson and Medical Examiner Zee Madieras attend a gala where Britt receives an emerald brooch from India, resurfaced from the black market. After the party, with the brooch carefully placed in a safe, Britt goes home, where she’s knocked unconscious, and the brooch disappears. With numerous suspects and two murders, Jeff and Zee find a letter containing a riddle that might foretell where the precious heirloom could be.

Jesse Metcalfe and Sarah Lind have done a fantastic job on this newest Martha’s Vineyard Mystery.

Jesse Metcalfe’s character is flirting a lot with Sarah Lind’s character, which breaks it up from them trying to solve the mystery. Jeff is retired from the Boston police force and occasionally joins Martha’s Vineyard PD when they need him. Other than that, he does whatever he wants to do, including helping out locales with repairs on their boats or helping out someone with food for their restaurant.

Jeff isn’t our only sleuth in this story. The other one is Zee. The medical examiner and police chief’s daughter. Sure she is the medical examiner, but she has been helping Jeff solving not only this case but the last case as well. Zee has feelings for Jeff, even if she isn’t willing to tell anyone yet.

I do have to say that Jesse and Sarah have fabulous on-screen chemistry. I believe it, and they aren’t bad looking together either. The story is well written as well, and the mystery had me going for a bit. I did fall for some of the red herrings. The location that they are using is gorgeous, and the sets are all so beautiful.
