Shane Hutton

Shane Hutton knows what he wants. A permanent position as a state park ranger in West Texas. Shane has been hiding from his parents and the way he was brought up. This is the main reason he wants to be in West Texas. I think that Shane is just scared of what life would be like if he stayed in one place. I could be totally off base, but he seems like a great park ranger who would excel wherever he goes. Shane seems to try his best in whatever situation he finds himself, but he excels most when he is at the state park, doing his duty as a park ranger.

I do like Shane, even if he is a bit hardheaded about some decisions sometimes.

Allison Van Horn

Allison Van Horn works in the billing department at a doctor’s clinic when she isn’t being a CASA volunteer. She is assigned to be in court for the twins when they aren’t actually needed. Allison seems to care deeply about these two girls, and they definitely need that love. I like Allison as she seems like a great character. Allison is a runner and is frequently seen at the state park.

Allison and Shane seem good together. I like the scenes of them together, discussing mundane things about their lives, and when Allison has the girls for a bit. Allison, of course, knows the twins, while Shane is great with them when he first meets them.

Four Stars

My rating for A Home for the Ranger by Audrey Wick is four stars. I do recommend this book as it is a good read. I like finding books that deal with Texas scenery even more now that I live in the state. Ms. Wick is a great author, and I enjoy being in her books.
