Trigger warning: Ana and Peter's journey begins after the loss of their father. Throughout the trilogy, the story touches on themes of grief, healing, and courage as each member of the family finds their own way through the loss.

Ana’s journey starts first as she finds gold coins that make her have to run away from the city and her family. She is only thirteen years old and is away from her family for the first time. Ana is definitely the reluctant chosen one in this scenerio as she doesn’t consider herself anything special to be able to fulfill this prophecy. Even more so when everyone keeps calling her the Saviour. I like Ana in that she has been grieving for her father and their old way of life while also putting on a brave face for her mom and brother. Another thing that I like about Ana is her humility and that she thinks that someone else would be better suited for her part in the prophecy.

Peter’s journey starts a bit after his baby sister. I can’t say much about Peter’s role in the prophecy yet as it is a spoiler. Peter is definitely the older sibling who is holding in his emotions and grief since he thinks that is best for his family especially in their new city where he had to be the only provider for them. I have to say that I felt bad for Peter but I am hoping that throughout this journey that the Mooring siblings are on that he will be able to grieve properly for his dad.

I live in Plymouth with my husband and two children. I love nature, festivals, the arts and being outdoors, especially wild swimming and paddleboarding – anything involving the sea. I’m an ex-teacher and work as a counsellor alongside writing.

I have always loved writing and being creative and, when I was younger, I loved to escape to a fantasy world by reading books. I would sometimes read throughout the night as I’d get carried away with it! However, I did find that I wanted more books involving female characters as the heroine.

In my adult life, when my children were born, I imagined the fantasy world I’ve depicted in this book and the story then evolved over time in my mind, but I just didn’t have time to write it. However, once my children were both of school age, I had a couple of days a week to focus on getting it all down on paper and I loved every minute of it. The more I immersed myself in this world and the plot of the story, the more I developed the characters and storyline; resulting in my first ever books (but definitely not my last).
