Wedding planner Kelsey McKenna is just a few hours away from wrapping up her latest job: a destination wedding in the charming, colonial Mexican town of San Miguel de Allende. The reception is all set up, the tequila donkey is waiting outside, and the bride and groom are standing on the altar, pledging their eternal love. But just as the priest is about to pronounce them husband and wife, one of the bridesmaids upstages the couple by collapsing into a floral arrangement… a definite wedding "don’t.” Kelsey soon discovers that the girl hasn't just fainted—she's dead.
Losing a bridesmaid is bad enough, but when the bride's sister is arrested for murder, the demanding mother of the bride insists that Kelsey fix the matter at once. And although Kelsey is pretty sure investigating a murder isn't in her contract, crossing the well-connected Mrs. Abernathy could be a career-killer. Before she can leave Mexico and get back to planning weddings, Kelsey must deal with stubborn detectives, a rekindled romance, and guests who didn't even RSVP.
Terror in Taffetta by Marla Cooper is set in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico, for a wedding that she is planning.
Can Kelsey get the bride’s sister out of jail and solve the case?
Kesley McKenna
Kelsey McKenna is the wedding planner extraordinaire. She can make it happen anywhere a bride and groom want their wedding to be. Kesley is a great person and would do anything to keep her clients happy, even if that means dealing with an overbearing mother. She tries her best to keep her cool, even though she has gone above and beyond for her clients in this book. I have to say that Kelsey does have a lot more patience in dealing with clients who ask way too much of her.
The Mystery
Kelsey McKenna is just getting the first part of the wedding service done when one of the bridesmaids ends up dying right before the couple gets announced as being married. Now, the bride’s mother has tasked Kelsey with the impossible because her youngest daughter ends up in jail. I so totally didn’t guess on who did, as I was stuck on one of the red herrings.
Five Stars
My rating for Terror in Taffetta by Marla Cooper is five stars, and I recommend it. Ms. Cooper is an excellent author who had me guessing throughout. I did not get whodunit, which is awesome since that means the author did a great job of stumping me. Ms. Cooper transported me to Mexico in this book through the characters, and I longed for some of the things they were eating and seeing. Well, unless it had to do with the murder, that is. I can’t wait to read the next book!
