Just another cozy mountain town or one with elemental magic and hidden agendas under the surface

Autumn assumed she would lead a normal life as an earth and air witch. Running a paper shop with her cousin, Simone, on Main Street, they handed out the perfect messages and comforting items that each of their customers needed.

That is, until the stormy fall equinox brings the foreshadowing dream of a handsome stranger, leading Autumn to find her Gran suddenly dead. As she pieces together Gran’s untimely death, Autumn realizes the deeper magical responsibilities her family holds in the mountain region and their importance in holding the elemental energies in balance.

She and Simone must hone their enhancing magical gifts while finding the person responsible for Gran’s death and discovering their true calling in Hollow’s Glenn. Will Autumn have the strength to solve Gran’s magical murder and take on the role as the new four points witch, harnessing all the elements once again?

If you love:

An Air Of Deceit is the first book in the Hollow’s Glenn Coven Mystery series. Immerse yourself in the earth, air, fire, and water energies of the families in Hollow’s Glenn and find out how a bit of mountain magic can keep everyone in balance.

An Air of Deceit by Kristen King has Autumn and Simone learning a great deal more about their family than they were taught growing up.

Can Autumn solve the mystery of her grandmother’s death? Will she be able to handle her new responsibilities?

Autumn and Simone McKinnon

Autumn and Simone are cousins and powerful witches, thanks to their bloodline and their role as protectors of their town. Okay, maybe Autumn has that right, since she is the prophesied witch that the family has been waiting for since their great-grandma passed away. Simone is a water witch, while Autumn is an earth and air witch. Except now, since the Autumn Equinox, Autumn’s magic is getting stronger. I love how these two lean on each other as support systems, but also have a business together. Autumn is a wonderful person who is trying her best to fill her Gram’s shoes while still being herself. Simone is a hoot. I laughed whenever she was around Autumn, as she is just a funny and wonderful person.

The Mystery

Autumn found her grandma’s dead body on the night of the Autumn Equinox when she was going home to collect her grandma and to gather the food that they were going to bring to her aunt’s house. Sadly, that never got to happen, and instead, she has to figure out who would want to harm her grandmother, who was a nice person. The person who did it wasn’t even on my radar. Nice job, Ms. King, on stumping me.

Four Stars

My rating for An Air of Deceit by Kristen King is four stars. I recommend it to cozy paranormal mystery readers, as it’s a fun read that keeps you guessing.

Ms. King has four tea recipes scattered throughout the book. I love how the teas foretold what that section will be about or how it relates to that upcoming section. The tea recipes are Remembrance Tea, Grounding Tea, Good Fortune Tea, and Awareness Tea.
