It’s chaos in Crosbyville when someone tries to swindle a large inheritance, but as Pris and Bailey start digging for the missing money, they uncover the wrong kind of bones….
Finally finished with the renovations on her new house, bestselling children’s book author Pris and her trusty bloodhound, Bailey, are finding more opportunities to join the community, including attending the annual town festival. But their efforts are paw-sed when David Townsend, volatile grandson of the late wealthy resident Edward Townsend, comes to fetch his inheritance.
After the new arrival riles up several other locals with petty arguments, the once sleepy town goes barking mad. Before long, the wealthy bachelor disappears without a trace, and the police suspect foul play. Bailey’s tracking instincts helped them collar the last criminal in Crosbyville, so the cops turn to Pris and her sweet hound to track down David.
But on their search-and-rescue mission, Pris and Bailey sniff out fraud, theft, and a body. Before they know it, both are hackles-deep inside another homicide investigation. Can the unlikely duo chase down the killer, or will they be left chasing their own tails?
Hounding a Killer by Kallie E. Benjamin has Pris and Bailey trying hard not to get involved in another investigation, but it just happens when Bailey, quite literally, sticks his nose into the middle of the investigation.
Can Pris and Bailey find the missing pieces to this inheritance case?
Pris and Bailey
Pris and Bailey are back again with another case. They tried so hard. Okay, Pris tried so hard to stay out of another case that the police were involved in, but Bailey couldn’t stay out of it. Pris is trying not to say sorry all the time, and be in the moment instead of thinking ahead about different possibilities. Bailey is still his spoiled basset hound self. He is getting as many treats as he wants and butting into actual cases instead of make-believe ones for Pris’s stories.
The Mystery
Pris, Bailey, and Marcie were taking a walk and stopped to talk when Bailey decided to start to dig and found some money in a bag. Well, Pris called it in to her boyfriend, and he was going to look into it. Everything went into mystery mode after that for Pris and Bailey as they started to talk to some people and gathered information. I had a feeling about who did it, but I wasn’t certain until the moment when it was revealed.
Five Stars
My rating for Hounding a Killer by Kallie E. Benjamin is five stars, and I do recommend this series. I love Pris and Bailey and how Pris is writing children’s detective mysteries using Bailey as inspiration for the pet detective. It’s so cool, and I love how Pris’s mind works, not only for her books but also in solving actual crimes. Ms. Benjamin did a fantastic job on this story, and I look forward to seeing where Pris and Bailey end up finding evidence next.
