Dr. Mia Reid arrives on the Isle of Skye for a summer dig. She learns her friend and trusted colleague, Dr. Ethan Carter, is dead and valuable artifacts are missing.

Interpol agent and Mia’s former lover, Luke Forbes, is working the case with the police. They suspect murder and a smuggling ring.

Mia and her team uncover a treasure with ties to Bonnie Prince Charlie.

Then two students are kidnapped, forcing Mia to trade the treasure for their release. During the rescue, she finds a collection of missing artifacts.

Are the smugglers and kidnappers the same people?

Can she dig up the truth before someone else dies?

Death at the Scottish Broch by Rose Kerr has Mia traveling to Scotland to go on a dig with one of her students.

Will Mia solve the case?

Dr. Mia Reid

Dr. Mia Reid is a professor at a college in Canada and is ready for her trip to a dig in Scotland with an old friend. The problem is once she touches ground in Scotland and hears that her old friend is dead for the artifacts that he uncovered recently, Mia is in for a whole lot of trouble. I like how Mia kept things professional while being at the dig and trying to find more stuff at the dig for Ethan’s memory on this last dig. Another thing that I like is how Mia tries not to let anything disturb her while she’s working and waits until later to unwind. Mia seems like a great person who is trying to do things correctly.Death at the Scottish Broch CR

The Mystery

Dr. Mia Reid learns when she gets to the B&B near the dig on the Isle of Sky in Scotland that Dr. Ethan Carter was found dead at the dig. Now Mia has to fend off reporters, treasure hunters, and an ex-flame working for Interpol. I have to say that I knew from the beginning that something was off with three people that we met. I’m glad that I was right, but I definitely didn’t think about anyone else. I feel bad for Mia because of everything she has dealt with since getting off the plane in Scotland.

Four Stars

My rating for Death at the Scottish Broch by Rose Kerr is four stars, and I recommend it. Ms. Kerr has a good start on a new series with this one. I can’t wait to see what other cases Mia gets involved in, how she and Dr. Luke Forbes develop their relationship, or if they even do.
