The Baroness’ Choices of New Books Publishing This Week

2024, Week 33’s New Books

My choices for this week include Cozy Animal Paranormal Mystery, Cozy Culinary Mysteries, and Paranormal Romantic Comedy.

It’s another Sunday, which means a New Release post from me. I can’t believe we are already in our second week of August. How’s everyone handling it? I’m doing pretty well on my reading challenges.

I found some lovely books for this week. None of them are currently on our TBR, but that can change as they all look amazing, from the covers to the synopsis.

Here are my choices for New Books Publishing Week 33 of 2024!

Charcuterie Shop Mystery #3

Publication Date: August 13, 2024

Genre: Cozy Culinary Mystery

Goodreads | Amazon

It’s tough to teach the art of charcuterie with bodies piling up at your doorstep

Just as burgeoning charcuterie entrepreneur, Katie Aubrey, gets ready to teach a charcuterie class for a handful of adults, the body of a retired investigative reporter is found behind her sandwich shop and the gift store next door. The reporter had broken the story about a gold heist in the 80s, but has been out of the limelight for years. Until now.

And while Katie tries to conduct business as usual, rumors abound. To make matters worse, the adults in her class are as backbiting and obnoxious as possible, including one gentleman who tries to strongarm Katie and her business neighbor into relinquishing their leases so he can start an internet café. Tempers flare and the unexpected happens – the man is found dead behind Katie’s shop, and all fingers point to Katie.

It doesn’t help that the other occupant in Katie’s house, the ghostly spirit of food critic, Edith Ellory, decides to find out who the real murderer is, compelling Katie to take the helm for fear Edith will mess things up and send her to the Fourth Avenue Jail for the next decade.

Haunted Ever After by Jen DeLuca Haunted Ever After by Jen DeLuca

Boneyard Key #1

Publication Date: August 13, 2024

Genre: Paranormal Romantic Comedy

Goodreads | Bookhype | BookBub | StoryGraph | Amazon

It’s love at first haunting in a seaside town that raises everyone’s spirits from USA Today bestselling author Jen DeLuca.

Small Florida coastal towns often find themselves scrambling for the tourism dollars that the Orlando theme parks leave behind. And within the town limits of Boneyard Key, the residents decided long ago to lean into its ghostliness. Nick Royer, owner of the Hallowed Grounds coffee shop, embraces the ghost tourism that keeps the local economy afloat, as well as his spectral roommate. At least he doesn’t have to run air-conditioning.

Cassie Rutherford possibly overreacted to all her friends getting married and having kids by leaving Orlando and buying a flipped historic cottage in Boneyard Key. Though there’s something unusual with her new home (her laptop won’t charge in any outlets, and the poetry magnets on her fridge definitely didn’t read “WRONG” and “MY HOUSE” when she put them up), she’s charmed by the colorful history surrounding her. And she’s catching a certain vibe from the grumpy coffee shop owner whenever he slips her a free slice of banana bread along with her coffee order.

As Nick takes her on a ghost tour, sharing town gossip that tourists don’t get to hear, and they spend nights side-by-side looking into the former owners of her haunted cottage, their connection solidifies into something very real and enticing. But Cassie’s worried she’s in too deep with this whole (haunted) home ownership thing…and Nick’s afraid to get too close in case Cassie gets scared away for good.

Gilmore Girls meets Murder, She Wrote in this fast-paced culinary cozy (with a dog you’ll want to adopt yourself!)

In the charming seaside town of Saltcliff, Dahlia Vale’s life is about to take a dramatic twist. Leaving her monotonous job as a defense contractor, Dahlia inherits her late sister Daisy’s cozy inn and her spirited niece, Diantha. But Saltcliff holds more than new beginnings; it hides whispers of past loves, local feuds, and a string of suspicious deaths.

With her loyal service dog, Taco, by her side, Dahlia uncovers secrets Daisy left behind. The quaint Saltcliff Bed & Breakfast becomes the center of these mysteries, linking a controversial local chef’s death to Daisy’s secretive gardening. As Dahlia delves deeper, aided by Detective Owen Sanderson, she untangles a web of betrayal, blackmail, and hidden motives-all while serving perfect morning scones.

Join Dahlia, Diantha, and Taco in this cozy culinary mystery, where every character has a story, and the truth is as layered as a well-baked pastry.
