June can't help herself and decides to put her amateur and magical sleuthing skills to the test to try to bring the killer to justice... or are her hormones deceiving her?

June and Oscar are the excepting parents of a cute little bundle of joy that they are hoping will be a spiritualist. Except with June’s genes, who knows how that will work? It’s honestly a very tricky business to know as they won’t until the baby is in their teens if they have a spiritualist gift or not. I’m hoping that the baby will be or at least a late bloomer. I mean, June didn’t know until she was 18 that she was a spiritualist. These two are super adorable as they worry about their baby. They are also worried about the safety of their world. Or at least for June since she is the Chosen One. I still think these two are a fabulous couple, making wonderful main characters in this series.

The Mystery

June and Oscar have their work cut out for them as the receptionist at their doctor’s office was found deceased. When June gets there, the police are already on their way. However, June finds some interesting things about the baby that day. She also learns what the receptionist knows. The Marys want June to fix the damage so that no one finds out about them. Oscar is assisting with the mystery as well. I admit that I figured it out.

Four Stars

A Charming Deception by Tonya Kappes is sadly the last book in the series, well, besides one novella after it, and I was left with questions. Most of them are like what happened to the mortal neighborhood, the two budding relationships that we saw in an early novel, what about Patty’s Pumpkin Patch, and some of the other new shop owners as well? Too many questions were left unanswered. I was hoping in this book that is about June’s child that we will have some of these answers. However, some things were left unresolved.

With what I said above, I am giving A Charming Deception by Tonya Kappes four stars. I am recommending it to all still since this is still an incredible series. You wouldn’t want to miss the finale.
